Statistical Oddities of 2017

Joey Gallo can be what I assume would be the first player ever with a sub-.200 batting average and an .800+ OPS in a reasonable number of ABs. .900 isn't out of reach.

He's on the DL with a broken nose/concussion, but eligible for reactivation on Tuesday. Texas is part of the scrum for the AL wild card spots, so it's likely that he'll be activated as soon as he can play.

I checked Adam Dunn, who was the first guy I thought of who might have accomplished this.

Closest he came was 2012: hit .204 while OPSing exactly .800.

I was thinking Rob Deer or Pete Incaviglia, but neither of them, either.

No team in post-1900 history has struck out more than 10 per game on average. This year, the Indians are currently at 10.05 and the Astros are at 9.95.
