Wilmer's Nose / Power Drought

Frayed Knot

Broken - which should come as a surprise to no one.
Won't know the full extent or time missed until he sees a nose guy in NY after they get back (unless someone here knows of anyone who's ever broken their nose).
Wilmer's talent for getting hurt just as full-time jobs open up for him continues to amaze.

This also now means the top Six HR hitters on the club are either gone or sidelined, leaving Asdrubal Cabrera and his 11 as the active club leader just ahead of d'Arnaud (10) and Reyes (9)
The funny part is that Rosario & Smith are now tied for fourth place with four each. On the other hand, the fact that the whole roster -- not the starting lineup on a given day but the entire
active roster
-- has a total of just 46 (six fewer than G. Stanton alone) makes that not so funny.

After Rosario/Smith, Lagares and his grand total of two is the only other one with multiple HRs. Nimmo, Plawecki, Cecchini, Reynolds, deGrom & Lugo have tallied one each.

Re: Wilmer's Nose / Power Drought

I missed the game, saw the box score this morning and wondered why he was removed from the game.

You're right. It seems like every time he gets a chance to play for an extended period of time, something like this happens.
In the old days, they used to say a player like that was "snake bit". Is that expression still used? If so, Wilmer should be its poster boy.

I think the "snakebit" and "soft" and "fragile" tags are cruel things to hang around a guy's neck. It's usually more about random distribution.

There really isn't anything soft about Wilma except that infectious smile so
I think that should put to rest before it starts. A case could be made that he's
pretty damn unlucky if one believes in bad luck.

Maybe he can wear one of those Starks/Oakley masks and pick up a bat
relatively quickly.

I'll sound like a "blame the victim" guy but damn Wilmer what the hell were you doing swinging at that pitch?

Maybe. I get the idea that the vibes of a foul ball off the handle hurt like hell vibrating up into a broken nose.

I also get the idea that a week or two of R&R may be needed just to clear the head after a thing like that.

God love his heart. Just don't catch a cold this week Wilmer

When my son was about three he tripped over a shoe and broke his nose on a bed frame. He also caught pink eye that week. He was a mess.
