Well, things are look a LOT better since my last update on Mr. Stewart.
He finished the '06 campaign in St. Lucie with better numbers than he started. Caleb finished with a .259 clip in 243 at bats, and slugged an impressive .519 for a .861 OPS. 14 homers, 42 RBIs to go with 17 doubles and 2 triples. His BB:K ratio didn't improve much (24:52, or about 1:2.2).
However, he truly seems to be finding himself a bit for the Binghamton Mets this year: Through 39 games, he's hitting .324 in 139 at bats with a .353 OBP and a .519 slugging percentage (.871 OPS). He has 30 RBIs to go with his 7 homers and 6 doubles.
Unfortunately, his K:BB ratio is as terrible as ever; 7:33, or about 1 walk for every 5 strikeouts.
Caleb also won the Eastern League Player of the Week from 05/13 to 05/20.

Stewart Racing Through Met Ranks
Caleb Stewart competed for his high school’s cross-country team in the third grade. So stepping up to the Eastern League maybe isn’t that big a jump for the 22nd-round pick in 2004 from the University of Kentucky.
Stewart, who turns 25 on June 11, has a .341 average with seven homers and 30 RBI in 37 games for Double-A Binghamton. The outfielder was named Eastern League Player of the Week for the period ending last Sunday. He’s currently on a 16-game hitting streak, with five multi-hit games in the past week.
Stewart’s average ranks third in the Eastern League, behind Reading’s Jesus Merchan (.378) and Joey Hammond (.342). His RBI total is fifth, eight behind leader Jeffrey Larish of Erie and one behind teammate Brett Harper for the B-Mets’ lead.
Stewart said his approach changed last year working with hitting coach Nelson Silverio at high-A St. Lucie. He focused on getting more disciplined at the plate, looking for pitches in certain zones until he got to two strikes rather than swinging indiscriminately at the offering no matter the location.
“Up until two strikes you want to wait for your pitch to hit,â€

His hot streak continued last night -- http://metsminors.metsblog.com/blog/_ar ... 84283.html
The B-Mets overcame an early 1-0 hole to build an 8-3 advantage after the fifth. Caleb Stewart, who was 0-7 since his 16 game hitting streak was snapped Sunday busted out with a 4-4 night that included a home run, four runs scored and three RBI. In the Mets five run fifth, Stewart (.343/.374/.552) singled home Fernando Martinez, who’d reached on an error to tie the game at 1-1. Later, Jose Coronado cleared the bases with a three run double. Stewart’s two run home run in the fifth put Binghamton up 8-3. Brett Harper (.288/.341/.491) was 2-5 to extend his hitting streak to an EL best 20 games. Mark Kiger, who’s put together a consistent season (.294/.417/.405), was 2-4 with a double a walk and two RBI. |

He finished the season off in Binghamtom hitting .252/.314/.400. K:BB ratio of 102:36, which was improved from his early pace, although everything else got worse.
He played in the Winter Leagues and did pretty well: 14 for 44 (.318) with 6 walks (.400 OBP) and 2 doubles with 6 homers (.773 SLG). His K:BB ratio again improved, 6:12, although quite a small sample.

Time for another update!
Caleb was 26 last season and played for Binghamton and New Orleans.
For Binghamton, he had 112 games and 394 at bats; he hit .279/.365 /.462/.827. That's 13 home runs, 29 doubles, 2 triples. 56 RBIs to go along with it. K:BB ratio of 69:49, which isn't impressive really but the best it's been since since 2005 for the Cyclones.
New Orleans wasn't that successful of an experience for him. 20 games, 77 at bats. Only a .221 average and his 5 walks netted an OBP of only .268. His .377 slugging made for a .645 OPS in 77 at bats. Not too good. 1 homer, 5 doubles, 2 triples in his New Orleans stint.
He wasn't invited to Spring Training, but God forbid we're injury plagued, he could make a stint in the majors this year or next if he stays with the club. You never know.

Yeah, I got caught up with two jobs in the summer and really didn't do much at all on the internet. Since school started up, I've only really been reading the forums. I just haven't felt like I've had much to contribute or anything interesting to say.

He played for the Newark Bears in 2011 and I met him. I called him son and it was weird.
