Dominican Republic no-hitting Venezuela through 5 innings--Garcia went 4 and Escobar 1 inning.

DR scored one in the first on a bases-load "bunt" single by Alou and that's where we're at--1-0 DR through 5.

DR eliminates Venezuela and becomes the first team to "officially" advance to the "Final Four" in Sandy Eggo.

Weird game: only runs came on a swinging bunt (DR), a groundout (Vz), and a passed ball (DR).
Duaner Sanchez comes in for the save. Should have been a bit easier than it was; he got 2 outs then coughed up a walk, then got a game-ending grounder ... only Tejada muffed it, he then issued another walk before getting 'ol Fonzie to fly to RF w/the sacks drunk for the game-ender.

Jorge Julio came on in the 8th for Venz with the DR having pinch-runner Jose Reyes at 1st w/none out. He got out of the inning scoreless despite 2 Reyes SBs and a loud out to LF off the bat of Beltre.

Dominican Republic wins in dramatic fashion, escaping a bases loaded, 2 out situation in the bottom of the ninth on a Fonzie pop up to right field.

Duaner Sanchez gets the save after making it interesting by walking two. Tejada didn't help with an error on a Ramon Hernandez grounder.

2 runs in this game scored on dribblers; the winning run scored on a passed ball.

Crazy game, but in the end, the expected result: DR advances; Venezuela goes home.

So no tie-breaker in Pool 2, huh? The winner of Cuba-Puerto Rico advances along with Dominican Republic, the loser goes home.

Puerto Rico is my team, so I know who I'm rooting for.
