What are the odds?

We're the favorites to win the NL East.

We're neck-in-neck with St. Louis for the NL Pennant.

We're considered the 4th most likely to win the WS.

Other betting: White Sox in the ALC, Angels in the ALW, Yankees in the ALE.

Cards in the NLC, Dodgers in the NLW.

AL Pennant race order: Yanks, White Sox, Boston, Cleveland

NL Pennant race order: Cards, Mets, Cubs, Braves

WS order: Yanks, White Sox, Cards, Mets, Red Sox

And we're miserable.

I'm optimistic.

Two years ago, right around this time, I was so sure that the Mets wouldn't be in the post-season that I purchased plane tickets to Rome that had me departing on the evening of World Series Game 4.

This year, I'm not going to make any October plans. That doesn't mean I'm certain they'll be there; I'm not that optimistic. But I am looking forward to a pennant race in a way that I haven't since 2002!

(And no, you don't need to remind me of how 2002 turned out.)

I'm watching Bill Maher interview Pete Rose right now. Rose is appearing on satellite from a Las Vegas casino. He sure knows how to enhance his image, doesn't he?

Depends on which casino.
