Take your guesses folks....
Nymr83 Mar 16 2006 09:19 AM |
oh and someone start the Met-specific thread please :)
Benjamin Grimm Mar 16 2006 09:31 AM |
You have the White Sox losing to the Yankees in the first round, but advancing to the ALCS anyway.
Edgy MD Mar 16 2006 09:37 AM |
The Yankees win, but can't advance to the next round after a string of arrests leaves them gutted.
Nymr83 Mar 16 2006 12:15 PM |
i'll leave the mistake so as not to kill the joke but for the record i'm picking CHW to beat the Yankees.

I'll freely admit, there's a good dose of wishful thinking in this. I had to pull myself short of picking a Flushing World Championship, though.

So far I'm the only one who kept the Yankees out of the playoffs.

Felix Hernandez doesn't qualify for the ROY. He pitched 84 innings last year, well over the 50 minimum and was on the ML roster for more than 45 days.
Nymr83 Mar 16 2006 02:13 PM |
yeah, if he did i'd have picked him as well, he's going to be very good.

Milledge won't win a ROY for the same reason Wright didn't, the Mets will not bring him up to start a year

My predictions are usually worth shit, so here's what I predict, based in part on what I want to happen.
Bret Sabermetric Mar 20 2006 07:33 AM |
Are you folks (Dickshot aside) writing what you think WILL happen, or what you want to happen?
Benjamin Grimm Mar 20 2006 07:44 AM |
As I said, I'm influenced by wishful thinking.
Bret Sabermetric Mar 20 2006 07:52 AM |
That's a pretty important influence. Threads like these make more sense if they're divided into "wishful thinking" (in which virtually all CPFers will say that they hope the Mets win the Series) and predictions people want to stand by. Some sort of loopy combination of the two is kinda like "Who do you want to sleep with tonight, Gina Gershon or your wife?", without specifying if this is polling your deepest desries or your views on probablility (plus whether your wife will be reading your response).
Elster88 Mar 20 2006 07:53 AM |
I like to fanatasize about Gina Gershon while listening to my Steely Dan records.
Bret Sabermetric Mar 20 2006 08:00 AM |
Are you implying that Gina is elderly?
Elster88 Mar 20 2006 08:08 AM |
Elderly might be pushing it a bit.
Benjamin Grimm Mar 20 2006 08:09 AM |
She'll be 44 in June, which makes her almost a year older than me. And she's still mighty fine.
Johnny Dickshot Mar 20 2006 08:09 AM |
Talk about fooling yourself. I know enough to know that "predicting" what'll happen is folly. Even those who study probabilities know that. That said, other than putting the Yankees in last place I'm as comfortable with what I "predicted" as I can be.
Benjamin Grimm Mar 20 2006 08:13 AM |
I too think that there's a chance that my predictions will come true. They may not be the most likely scenario, but it's far more likely than me sharing a bed tonight with Gina Gershon. Or Jessica Alba. Or Betty White.
Elster88 Mar 20 2006 08:14 AM |
She still looks good to me, too. I just wanted to take a totally unjustified shot at Steely Dan's impending defeat of GNR. Edit: I consider myself a young punk, but my teenage days are long since past.
Bret Sabermetric Mar 20 2006 08:22 AM |
You've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky tonight? Well, do ya, punk?
Edgy MD Mar 20 2006 09:30 AM |
Consider yourself what you will. Ms. Gershon is probably no older than Axl Rose.
Willets Point Mar 20 2006 09:35 AM |
Who is Gina Gershon?
metirish Mar 20 2006 09:35 AM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Mar 20 2006 09:43 AM |
Gine Gershon is hot(here with Drea de Matteo from the Sopranos)

Axl turns 44 this year, too. In his prime he was just as pretty as Ms. Gershon. Edit: I had corrected metirish's listing of Drea de Matteo as "Andrea from the Sopranos" here.
Willets Point Mar 20 2006 09:41 AM |
Axl Rose born February 6, 1962
Benjamin Grimm Mar 20 2006 09:42 AM |
Yeee, Irish, you sure picked a ghastly image of Gina Gershon. (I hate that "raccoon makeup" look.)
Johnny Dickshot Mar 20 2006 09:47 AM |
Gina Gershon & I share a birthday. I've seen where it's been listed in some places as the same year as mine, which would shortly make her ... OMG... 40 and not 44.

Division standings: what I think will happen. Playoff results/individual awards - random guesses/wishful thinking.

I think the 40-something woman who keeps walking past my desk is very attractive (she must pee 15 times a day) but I suspect I wouldn't even have noticed her twenty years ago.
