It's starting.......

Amputate it and get the hell back out there and pitch.
|
metirish Mar 21 2006 04:11 PM |
Yeah but he has a toe problem.
|
RealityChuck Mar 21 2006 04:13 PM |
Sounds pretty trivial. A few days off and he'll be fine.

Every year, usually in spring, a seemingly minor injury comes up. Scarlet freaks out, seemingly over-reacts ,according to cooler heads, but the injury turns out more serious.

No new Met gets me less excited than Billy Wagner.

Me too. If Wagner has to miss a few weeks (or more) let Heilman close and put Bannister in the rotation. We'll be fine.

It's probably nothing ... which was also my first reaction to Saberhagen's finger injury.

"I've got blisters on my fingers!"

"It's been a long, long, long time..."

That's the excitement level I want from my closer. He's here, he's doing his job, next game.

We do have a bit of depth and some options if it comes to that. But Im gonna just hope Wags gets well real soon. I would really like to see a full healthy team out of the gate. We got 2 weeks....... *Z crosses fingers*-OW!-hurt my tendon sheath.

Actually, it strikes me that Duaner Sanchez kind of wears his hair like an alpaca.
|
Yancy Street Gang Mar 21 2006 04:47 PM |
Are you suggesting that Duaner Sanchez bit Wagner's finger?
|
Rotblatt Mar 21 2006 04:54 PM |

See, I'm guessing that Julio ("has experience as a closer") or Sanchez (ditto) would close. I'd much rather have Wagner out there than either of those two.
|
Yancy Street Gang Mar 21 2006 05:03 PM |
Probably Sanchez.
|
Elster88 Mar 21 2006 05:10 PM |
Fearless prediction: Julio will remain on the Met 25-man roster (barring injury) all year.
|
Bret Sabermetric Mar 21 2006 05:10 PM |
All experience isn't good experience. I mean, Mel Rojas has experience as a closer, but I don't think we're signing him up.
|
sharpie Mar 21 2006 05:11 PM |
Duaner (who closed for the Dodgers the end of last year) would prolly close before Julio.
|
Johnny Dickshot Mar 21 2006 07:33 PM |
Wagner's obviously a good guy to have, but the $$ and the years are a little much for a guy his age and the expectations were already out of sight before this injury.

Fearless Prediction:
|
Centerfield Mar 22 2006 11:54 AM |
Well that's just silly. Wagner has blown saves like any other closer.
|
Vic Sage Mar 22 2006 11:57 AM |
you know why he got injured, don't you?
