Latest reports is that Martinez missing opening day is now "expected." Matsui remains unassigned to the DL. It makes sense that they will, because once they make it retroactive, he should miss only the first few days of the season. But I guess they're waiting to be certain that he'll miss at least 15 days. And they can afford to.

Meanwhile:
]In Tampa, Fla., New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada broke his nose when he was hit in the face by a ball while playing catch.

Dang, who was he playing catch with?

Well he does have a big nose...Pedro confirms he won't start opening day....

]"Opening Day? No," Martinez said. "Unless I can really work some magic. But I don't think I'll have enough time. I need at least two outings. You're not going to throw me three innings in a game and then straight to Opening Day.

"I don't think it's fair to either me, my teammates or anybody. Another start will probably pretty much put me on track to go easy on the first game of the regular season."

Marcia Posada spent the night in the hospital. Stinnett got him good.

]Glavine's dentist told the pitcher Monday that another two months must pass before permanent replacements for his two front teeth can be fitted, making the current teeth -- called permanent temporaries -- even less temporary.

Glavine now plans to have the work done after the season.
