BLC: REM vs. Steely Dan
Johnny Dickshot Mar 22 2006 10:55 AM |
My own impeccable taste compels me to replace “Orange Crush” and re-insert “These Days” despite what the voters think. If you don’t know These Days, go buy two copies of Lifes Rich Pageant, cuz you’ll want another if one breaks. “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth” has done OK despite some detractors in this contest, but I’ll switch gears here with the Stiped-up piano ballad “Nightswimming.”

The Dan, 10-0. The two REM songs that had potential to challenge get blown away by "My Old School" and "Haitian Divorce."

REM comes charging back from early 10-point deficit. Steely Dan has to learn how to hold a lead.

That REM poster is straight off of my wall from my freshman dorm. It did little for advancing my status among my seven* roommates that year. Mike Mills is wearing a Bad News Bears in Breaking Training tee shirt.

I got a 3-point spread at halftime, typical 10-0 vote from RealityChuck looming large yet again.

Two unique-sounding bands with vocals that can be a little disconcertingly detached.

I count it at 45-45.

I don;t count very well; I had it 46-43 before edgeward's vote
|
sharpie Mar 23 2006 09:29 AM |
Mine was before his vote also.

Yes. Supposedly it's mentioned in some William Burroughs book.
