20 in a row is something else.

I think your team winning eight in a row is the point at which you feel like you're on drugs. Twenty in a row must be like ecstasy on the moon.

The last team to do that was the 2002 A's. Are we sure it was just ecstasy? :)

Mets stuff - Terrence Long played 162 games for that club. (Baseball-Reference lists him as the centerfielder.)

Indians 21-5 with Jay Bruce in the lineup.

7th shutout (and second straight) among the 20 wins.
They might go 21-5 with ME in the lineup.

Pretty incredible. We've had two streaks of 11 over the last few years but imagine....20 in a row. If the Mets did that my head would explode.

Re: Indian Watch

If they break the all-time win streak record, it would be a good time to announce a name change to something less racist. Who can be oppose a team that just won 27 straight games?

Re: Indian Watch

One of my Indians fan friends has commented, "Win the Series and retire the Chief!", which is something I can see happening. I think the city and the team are looking for a reason to do it that doesn't make it appear that they're simply caving to outside pressure, and a fan rebellion after a Series victory would look silly. Changing the name and/or making any other changes after breaking the winning streak record, not so much.

Art Howe managed that '02 A's squad, on the topic of Mets stuff related to it.

Re: Indian Watch

BLACKJACK!!

In yesterday's (20th) win it took them until their first batter to get a lead - leadoff HR Francisco Lindor.
Today they actually got down 1-0 so it took them all the way until Jay Bruce's 3R HR in the bottom of the 1st (5th batter)

Looks like Ramirez, Encarnacion, and Bruce for the Injuns in the bottom half

We go to bottomy bottom of the ninthy ninth.

Jason Vargas started this game for the Royals, and even though he only went five, the Royals took the league in the top of the sixth, leaving him as the pitcher of record.

Is Jason F. Vargas really going to be the guy to break this streak? JASON VARGAS?

Yeah, I gotta admit that threw me for a loop.

In other developments, Tito Francona demonstrates that he's smarter than Yogi Berra by going with his back-end starter over pushing his ace on short rest in ALDS Game 1*. [url]https://www.si.com/mlb/2017/10/03/cleveland-indians-alds-game-one-trevor-bauer-corey-kluber
