Just found this thread. Listened to watched several of the videos. Some I was already familiar with and others were new to me. I really found the Yngwie Malmsteen video with the orchestra particularly interesting. Virtuoso guitar riffs with classical orchestra backing it up.

Good stuff! I saw them on the "Black and Blue" tour with Blue Oyster Cult at Nassau Coliseum. Triumph was great!!

Yeah, his studio voice was still top notch in those days. I was already a Dio fan from his Rainbow years and this album hit me over the head. The bass and guitar work on this song are a hard rockin' clinic. [youtube]CJgHn7MeAwc[/youtube]

I gotta admit it. I was onto APPETITE before anyone. My metalhead friend had the cassette with the original cover, he loaned it to me and I wrote a review in the school paper months before anyone had heard of them. AFD took a year to hit, I had it 6 months in!

These guys tho were the Matt Harvey of metal, basically. 1 stretch of near greatness, cruised on it, got fat, never did anything as good again. And I sorta resent how revered they are today.

Good analogy. They're a three-album band, not a one-album band like some say (although you can make the case that UYI could/should have been condensed, which would still make them a two-album band)... but regardless, they've gotten way more mileage out of that than you'd expect.
