That deal is a LONG way from coming to reality. Basically what the team has done is settle on a preferred site from among three they had been considering.

Kind of amazing that Oakland is the last town where the MLB team and NFL team share a stadium, at least until the Raiders leave for Las Vegas.

And when the NBA's Warriors leave for San Fran across the bay in time for the 2019-20 season (their new crib in already under construction) the A's will be the only pro team left in Oakland.

So, I did a little research and it turns out that the peak year for MLB teams sharing stadiums with NFL teams was 1971, when 18 stadiums performed double duty.

Possible, especially if movable field trays become something feasible enough to ubiquitous, as well as other engineering advances that would allow easier modification of stadiums for different sports.
