Did your favorite tri-state- area pizza joint rank?

I have to re-read, but I think I've been to three of these.

Re: Pizza (not Piazza) 2017

there should be a separate ranking for best (new york style) pizza. none of this frou frou nonsense.

yeah, fine, putting weird shit on a crust is basically what pizza is all about. but it starts with the basic pizza. you need a good foundation.

i hate food lists. they're subjective and mostly just clickbait.

I've been to three of those i think. Grimaldi's and the two Umberto ones in Elmont/New Hyde Park. I wouldn't rank either of the Umberto's as even the best in Nassau County.

Re: Pizza (not Piazza) 2017

It seems that there's a best pizza list coming out every three days. This list might be the worst one I've ever seen. Who decided that one? Trump voting rubes from Michigan? Oh ... and some consistency please with the layout. Does the text refer to the picture above or below?

I think we once had a two-week discussion on whether or not a person should be
deported to Wyoming if they ate a slice with a knife or fork.

I clicked on a fb thing on my home page or whatever it's called. I normally
resist following the links because of the advertising barrage that accompanies
stuff like this. Not sure if there's a Michigan connection, but if there is I'm sure
you'll let us know!

to each his own generally, but a pox on anyone that makes a slice that is so floppy is must be eaten with a knife and fork.

I delivered pizza for about four years almost every day. Can't eat the stuff.

All shut up. The best pizza is my daughter's homemade

Well, three are within walking distance of my office (Lombardi's, John's and Prince Street) and I've had them all. Also had the Reservoir Tavern Pizza when my brother-in-law lived in Boonton and it's legendary. Pleasantly surprised it made the list.

Been to 22 of these. Virtually all were solid to great. Favorites include Di Fara's, Motorino, Juliana's (the original Grimaldi's people set up two doors down), Roberta's, Joe and Pat's, Louie and Ernie's,Frank Pepe's, and Rubirosa, in roughly that order.

Re: Pizza (not Piazza) 2017

I used to get a slice on the way home from school at Amare's in Flushing. I loved their proportion of crust to cheese to sauce to oil and haven't found anything comparable since.
But why argue with the best?
The white clam pie at Frank Pepe's deserves its #1 ranking.
And if you disagree, then you might be locked out of culinary Paradise.

And, after last night's result, it looks like I won't be seeing Joe Girardi at the pizza place here in town for a while longer.

Been to the Rubirosa in Manhattan, but not the one in Brooklyn so technically that doesn't qualify, i guess. Still pretty good.

Pepe's and Sally's have been overrated for ages. Modern in New Haven is better, and Zuppardi's in West Haven is better than all three.

That 22 impressed me too, and I'm older than LWFS and a pizzaholic.

6 -
Brooklyn: L & B, Grimaldi's, Totonno's
Manhattan: Patsy's, John's, Lombardi's

L & B and Totonno's were my local joints growing up. I was spoiled.
