>>--++With Dusk on the Horizon, Halloween Check<<--++

After running out of candy years ago I find myself stressed that we have enough
and then there have been years when no one shows up and we have to eat it all.

How many hobgoblins do you expect/get tonight?

Dunno. Going to the theater tonight - house'll be dark.

I bought eight bags of candy, two for $5 at Wegman's. Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Kit Kats.

I think it will be more than enough. I don't want to run out too early. If I have a lot of leftovers, I'll bring them to work tomorrow so I can fatten up my co-workers.

My first year here I ran out early and had to trade beer for candy with some people across the street. As my neighborhood slowly morphs into Park-Slope-on-the-Lake, there's been an influx of young families. And kids from two to 25 from the rougher neighborhoods further west have figured out that we're suckers and stop by for some better goodies than they can get where they live. Fine with me. I've never kept a count, but my guess is that I get 50-80. Until I moved here, I never lived in a trick-or-treaty neighborhood.

Two 150-piece assorted bags from Costco, at about $16 each. Halloween ain't cheap.

Having some friends over to hang out on my stoop. I tried curing salmon for the first time over the weekend, and it came out pretty good, so we'll have some of that and some rum-enhanced hot chocolate. Right now, I'm coming as "Exhausted Guy Who Forgot to Put the Milk in the Fridge Yesterday and had to Make a Desperation Run to Rite-Aid Just Now".

I just did the math, we have about 9½ lbs of assorted popular stuff from BJ's.
Agree with Chad, Halloween isn't cheap even when shopping at the warehouse store.

Four hobgoblins already, it's not even dark yet!

And this year, with official trick or treat halfway over, I've gotten a grand total of 3. And my friends had to cut out early and put the baby to bed. Halloween 2017 is turning into a bust.

Cold out. Wind died down at least.

Getting low on welches fruit bites. I think the grandkids are gonna have to live without lol

40 degrees here. It's been around 50 the last couple of years, which may explain it. There's a whole thread on my neighborhood's FB page about how nobody's out this year. I got fifteen total, most of them taller than I am (I'm short, but not that short).

We went light based on the weather report, bolstered by morning rain and snow flurries.

But, things cleared up and I made an emergency stop at Walgreens on the way home from work to get more bags. Everyone on line — same thing!

It's a balmy 45° here. We got 18 kids and 1 giant not-sure-what-he-was for a
total of 19. If anyone else comes they're getting Butterfingers, it's a vile candy.

Re: >>--++With Dusk on the Horizon, Halloween Check<<--++

We bought four decent sized bags - each member of our family picks out a choice and I get a bag of each so that we have our favorites left over if traffic is light (this year it was Kit Kats for Fwife, mini Hershey bars for Fboy, chocolate M&M's for Fgirl, and mini Take 5 bars for me). I gave out about half of it in total. Cold weather (mid 30's) kept much of the expected traffic home I suspect, we have had years where we went through twice as much.

I was working and got home around 9 PM.
My wife handed out the candy, and said we got over 80 trick-or-treaters.
The last ones came just before I got home.
The outside lights are out now and there's some candy left.

nobody comes to our house. no sidewalks and our house is on a hill. This is our 5th Halloween here and we haven't had one yet.

granted we're not home that much.

Today Ceetarette is old enough to actually 'get it' and we went out after work with her pediatrician and her kids so we weren't even home until 8.
