My story's in Mike Shannon's "Spitball"

It's been ... years. I got a note on my FB that there's a new member here, and I also found out one of my TEALS teammates is a Mets fan. He's actually in NY, not Houston (where I sorta am) or North Dakota (where my students are--I teach remotely) and it seemed to be a Sign. My story "The Juice" is in Mike Shannon's Spitball, "the literary baseball magazine" (or so it claims). Copies were mailed out Monday and I don't actually have mine yet, but I figured folks here might care. In other news, I'm doubly a grandmother -- grandsons from both my oldest son and his wife and my oldest daughter and her partner. Both within the last twelve months. Since it says I last logged in here in 2009, y'all also missed my youngest son's brain surgery in 2012-- it was an infection, not a tumor. They caught it in time and aggressive antibiotic therapy. I dropped out of major league baseball when the Astros were sold down the river to the junior circuit. I tried to get involved but I recognize few names/faces and it's not the same. And I cannot root for designated hitters.

Wow, Astro Annie. It's terrific to hear your update. Welcome back and congratulations on the publication. And to grandmotherhood and to beating a brain infection. The Astros, aliens though they might be, are America's greatest hope right now.

wow, I only now noticed I'm Juan Samuel. :) I've heard of him. I need to update my avvie again--got my hair cut and that Linux Mint t-shirt is cool but my "i right code" shirt is cooler. I didn't realize I'd uploaded the old one .... oops! Thanks, Edgy-formerly-DC. ;)
