I am still on my laptop. Is this like a tapatalk thing, or just looks better in a mobile browser? Thanks for diving into this, guys.

I appreciate the work you guys put in, and I'm sorry to gripe. But this background is hurting my eyes. Way too much off-white. The link to go back to the old version doesn't do anything. And how do you respond to specific posts now?

I agree that some more contrast between the white and the light gray would be more aesthetically harmonious, but the crack staff in Stockholm was more concerned about functionality first. We'll be bringing in some consultants from Milan to review the style.

Second this. Link above doesn't work or I'd use it.
I don't know if it's just on my phone or all but there is no telling when the most recent post was unless you open thread and scroll the whole way to the bottom

Tells when thread started but not most recent post

It takes me to the Board index, which looks the same as if I didn't go through the link.

I did find how to respond to a particular post, though.

Same. The link to the "old" format drops me right back in the new/current one.

It looks like Internet Explorer doesn't display the Classic Format, but Chrome and Firefox do.

I've also changed the front page of the forum to allow for users to choose, but again, it won't work in IE for some reason.

Re: What happened?

For the record, I dig the new theme, but was just checking from my Mac book and the "old" theme didn't work for me on Opera 49.0, Firefox 55.0.3, or Safari 11.0.1.

I just checked from FF on my work computer (Windows 7, Firefox 57.0.1 and Chrome 62.0.3202.94) and it loaded the new theme, too. I tossed my cookies and cleared my cache, but no difference.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Again, I don't care, was just seeing what worked & didn't and am sharing, in case it's useful. I see the links point to style=2 or style=3, but they look the exact same to me.

I like the contrast of black on slight gray. It's a little in your face on a big desktop
screen so I just make it a smaller window and it's fine. Bravo again to Ben Grimm who
took only like 48 hours to answer the bell.

Or, how do we send one? I can't find the "messages" spot. It was near the top left on the old format.

Re: What happened?

Just for info purposes, I'm not getting 'classic format' on my regular desktop
computer or laptop in both Chrome and Firefox. I don't really care since I so
much prefer the shiny new format and also love that I don't need a magnifying
glass to quickly take a peek on my phone.

I found that there (after some brief searching) but does some notice pop up when you get a message (like above the index in the old format) or do you specifically have to look there?
It seems to be unwieldy to have to go there every day to see if you have a message.

Re: What happened?

Both versions of the forum are linked to from the homepage at http://thecranepool.net

It seems, though, that your browser and/or operating system may keep the distinction from working. I think we'll probably settle in with a situation where the Classic will work for some people, in some situations, but not for everyone everywhere. Hopefully the people who want it will be able to get it, but we're going to have to give priority to Mobile because it's more functional for more people.

Let's try this. If this works, those of you who prefer the original format will have that as your default. Those of you who want the Mobile format can opt for that.

If you want to have one format on your phone and another on your desktop, that may or may not work. You would have to use the links on the home page and cross your fingers.

See above. We're currently working on making the choice of style up to the user, but if that doesn't work, then we'll go back to setting the Mobile version as the default. Bear with us! Ultimately, if we have to go with one or the other, the Mobile version is the one that will survive.

Re: Woah! (Mobile Friendly Forum)

2 little questions for BG-

Do you know of an option to change the color of hyperlink text? The color seems very close to normal text in the new theme. I didn't see it under User CP/display options or anything like that.

Second and less important, is the avatar on the right a feature of the new theme? I didn't see a way to change that either.

Thank you again for all the efforst.

I didn't in the end. Once you login, your board preference will be loaded regardless of platform. So I switched fully to the new look so it works on the phone.
