Royal Wedding 2018

Today I find myself more interested in Prince Harry's wedding than I ever thought I would be.

Apparently, Harry is friends with Barack Obama, and if he had it his way, he'd invite the Obamas to the wedding and would snub Donald Trump.

The British government is expected to pressure him to invite Trump instead, for reasons of diplomacy.

So while I don't care about the details of the wedding at all, the idea of Trump getting riled up over Obama getting invited instead of himself is very pleasing. I hope it happens.

I hope Trump says "hey dude, we threw out the monarchy, fuck your wedding" - on twitter. and there is a chance he will.

But only after being non-invited.
Despite his standard 'I'm above all this' attitude, he craves the attention and has as much desire to see and be seen as anyone.

Harry's wedding is not a 'state function', so world leaders are not required to be invited. Not being invited and watching the Obamas there will be infuriating for Trump. Harry's actually good friends with Obama, so it makes sense for him to be there. And Harry and Barack just released an interview they did a few months ago. Also Meghan Markle was rather pointed about her feelings regarding Trump, back when she was just a television personality. Spoiler alert: not very kind.

This is giving Theresa May heartburn, but there's nothing she can do about it. Trump will just have to stew over not being the center of attention. And I love it.

I think Harry is something like fifth in line for the throne. Isn’t a wedding like that the stuff the Vice President gets sent to? You really think Trump is worried about this?

Geez I remember his mom and dad getting married while we were in vacation one year and though I was happy, an MLB strike ended that same week that made me happier. Am I misremembering?

Consideing he's a small minded rascist dickwad whose only goal as president is to discredit the distinguished black man who proceeded as a shortcut to enhancing himself, yes he's very upset.

Obsessing is more like it. Especially if Obama's invited and he's not. This is a man who got into a Twitter fight with LaVar Ball, for Pete's sake. He's still obsessing about the Inauguration crowd and how massive his electoral victory was. It'll stick in his craw if he's not there. I'll be interested to see what he does to try and steal the spotlight on that day.

Re: Royal Wedding 2018

The guy is marrying an American. It's the kind of wedding that used to cement or reinforce alliances, and terrify enemies. Beyond "Hey, great, two young folks getting married," it's certainly silly, overblown, tabloid pablum. But geopolitically, it's far from irrelevant.

If the U.S. president isn't invited to a wedding of any direct descendent of the crown, fifth-in-line or not, it'd be hewj. I fully expect he and the first lady will be there and that he will (somehow) embarrass himself, his family, and his nation. I also fully expect President and Mrs. Obama to be there as well and I fully expect the Trumps to have better seats.

The Royals are weirdos, but they're not crazy.

For many of the reasons stated above, yes.
He's the rich kid in class who can buy anything he wants and gets a certain degree of prestige from that but is pissed off that not everyone in school reveres him (I recall making a similar analogy about ARod and his behavior). In this case what it means is that if little Donny doesn't get invited to the big end-of-term bash that the popular kids are all going to then he's going to make it known that he never really wanted to go to their stupid party in the first place.

(Channeling the great George Carlin) He'll probably bomb the shit out of some small country with non-white people in it.

Royal weeding? Good, we could do with fewer royals.
