I am breaking this from Politics thread.

2018:

Cuurent Dow 24,000 S&P 2582 X 9.68 X Consensus Target S&P 3000 = Year End Dow 29,000

Options for individuals:

1-2% "The usual

The Middle 15k free cash S&P ETF's = 100,000 ?

$100 with the education to do it; Crypto $100 done correctly could be 200-400x = $40,000. Not hyperbole

Charitable Donor funding; ^ 10%-15%. For real.

GDP Roughly 3.8%

These are my targets & Street consensus targets.

We now live in a new Economic Model.

Feel free to engage. No profanity please.

Re: 2018 Money Thoughts

Thinking about prepaying my 2018 property taxes as I could deduct them this year instead of not being able to deduct them next year. We're well over the $10,000 threshold, and will still be itemizing next year. Have a few days to decide.

Have no idea on the other numbers. I think the Dow will be way up due to the tax bill and the stock buybacks and dividends that will be a side effect. We disagree on charitable donations, but we'll see.

I think a lot of the rise of the last 12-13 months was a result of the anticipation of the tax deal, specifically the corporate rate lowering so I'm not sure a fresh jump is in order.
Not saying it won't still rise but of course that could be due to any number of factors while any 'tax bump' has likely already been mostly factored in.

btw, applause for proactively splitting off the topic. I've been fighting a losing battle on this front for over a decade now but I think the fewer overgrown 'All Purpose' threads we have around here the better and (small secret here) you don't need an administrator's permission to do so

all purpose threads serve a great purpose - they are a great place for posts that aren't part of an ongoing topic and that you expect to garner few responses. these posts are better off in one place not cluttering the board. but when a thread, such as the politics thread, grows to 100+ pages, something has certainly gone wrong the other way.

I proposed one solution, but until Huckabee Hound comments it has
fallen by the wayside.
