As this unfolds, I find I’m asking myself, really dude? Are you rooting for Bannon?

Re: Trump vs. Bannon

rooting for bannon in what sense?
rooting that his telling is the more accurate, or that trump's is?
or rooting that trump silences bannon, or that bannon takes down trump?

i'm rooting for whatever excises the cancerous growth of his base from our national, regional, and local political scene. if it takes trump shining a light on how preposterous those m-fers are, then i guess i'm on team trump.

I don't trust either of them. They are both lying liars looking to push their own agendas.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was all a big distracting production of their mutual design.

That hadn't occurred to me but now it will be hard to keep from the
back of my mind. I couldn't help but think their 'divorce' last year smelled
terribly orchestrated and planned from the get go. Ya know, like we helped
each other out but it's time to get out of bed with each other for a while or
something. I dunno, I could be as nuts as either of them.

If it distracts the president from his nuclear brinkmanship, I'm all for it. And if it distracts his legal and spin teams (who really should just merge, as much as he wants his case tried in the media that he claims to hate) from attacking the justice department, win-win.

I really don't think it's Trump vs. Bannon so much as Trump vs. Wolff. The president is just too shortsighted to understand that. The story includes accounts from all sorts of people close to the president that make him look terrible, and not a few are from the president himself.

Re: Trump vs. Bannon

It's in a book. Therefore Bannon denies he meant what he said* and Trump partisans will declare 'fake news'.

Fox & Fiends dutifully attacked the author as a 'sleazeball' this morning.

Best part of this is that the money-laundering is out in the open. That's what'll bring these clowns down as much as anything. And that's what Eric Schneiderman has in his hip pocket if the Big Orange Gasbag decides to play Pardon Bingo.

*even though Michael Wolff has him on tape

If he's a sleezeball, he's a sleezeball that the president allowed to wander in and out the West Wing for months. With something like 80% of the non-relative senior staff turned over in the first year, anybody has to become incredulous at the notion that all of his associates were paragons of competence and virtue when hired and have become are corrupt and despicable liars since leaving.

Hurry up, Director Mueller. Hurry up and hurry up.

Bannon & Trump will kiss and make up.

More importantly Mueller's focus is on money laundering.

Romney is the foil.

But do a thorough job. Republicans will try to poke holes in everything you have, so button it up tight.

CC enough attorneys general who'll continue if you're sidelined and keep the US Attorneys out of the loop as much as you can, especially the new guy for the Southern District of New York, Rudy Giuliani's former law partner.

Of course it has. New Yorkers have known for 30 years that Trump wasn't remotely qualified for this job.

It's Been an Open Secret All Along

The scandal of Michael Wolff’s new book isn’t its salacious details—it’s that everyone in Washington has known its key themes, and refused to act.

The critic's reviews are in!!!!

Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book. He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad! https://t.co/mEeUhk5ZV9

Am I giving them too much credit if I think this book is a false flag operation, set up by either or both of them, to discredit any future attempts at discrediting them, if that makes sense? Like, sprinkle outlandish bullshit readily proven false in amongst the real actual dysfunction, so as to make the dysfunctional shit sound like it’s as made up as the bullshit.

That’s my current fear. I’d so much rather it be clown snakes.

Maybe my favorite side effect of this book/story is this tangential twitter spoof that a whole bunch of people took as gospel.

Yes. Way too much credit. They're opportunists, not dark wizards.

To be frank, unless it rises to the level of their verging on supporting impeachment, I couldn't give a duck about this palace intrigue stuff. Anyone with eyes, ears, and a brain knows what Trump is; the only question is whether they'll say it out loud, and how loudly they'll do so.

The fact that it comes from Wolff, who isn't nearly as disciplined about fact-checking as most of his colleagues are these days AND seems to be the kind of reporter who schmoozes and catalogues, rather than, y'know, reporting... well, it makes this one even less interesting to me. We've caught the best parts of the movie in the trailer. I'll spend my weekends and nights this month catching up on Kazuo Ishiguro instead.
