Wow! What caused the Mets to drop so significantly from4 in 2015? It's not like they've made a lot of TiTTs trades in the past few years.

Re: We're Number 27!

Promotions were a big culprit. It also seems like there have been a lot of injuries, particularly pitchers.

yeah, it created a gap between the last crop and the next crop. There's a reasonable shot that we'll jump up significantly from 27 next year as guys move up.

Re: We're Number 27!

There was also the trade of Michael Fulmer, and the lost draft pick for signing Cuddyer (and maybe one or two others?)

Farm systems go up and down, sometimes very quickly, and the Mets are obviously at a low right now. It may be very different in a year or two.

Re: We're Number 27!

Wasting our 2015 first-rounder on Michael Cuddyer certainly didn't help.

The Cuddyer pick was a big loss.

Fullmer would be in the majors now anyway (or the disabled list, given Mets luck) so his presence in the organization wouldnt help the rankings.

Re: We're Number 27!

Giving up a bunch of assets for minor league relief pitchers as opposed to more useful talent sure didn't help.

Right. Sandy got borderline-crap for established major leaguers because the Wilpons needed the other team to take on salary. If the Wilpons ran the team (or were able to run the team) like a team in New York with their own cable channel and a new ballpark they could have focused on the player rather than the trade being a fancy salary dump.

Pitcher Justin Dunn, a 2016 First Round pick is seen regressing down to A ball this season.

Like the Yankees, who, had they simply been willing to pay Bruce's salary, supposedly could've had him, but they preferred to give up better prospects?
