As an original AFL/ Titans of New York fan, I still don't forget the snide insults heaped upon us by fans of "That other league". I can NEVER bring myself to root for a team from that league (now conference), even if they wear green.
Oh yeah, my wife of 50 years has always been an Eagles fan.
Don't ask.
I'll root for the Pats today.

As for the game, the Pats have made more mistakes in this half than I've seen them make all season.
Maybe Brady should have worn the tape. He said it was too sticky. Maybe he would have caught that pass on the trick play.

I just check out the Superbowl.
I had never even heard of Nick Foles. Only recently learned about the regular quarterback. This Eagles season is quite a story.

Just happy at anything that annoys Tom Brady.

Belichick is constantly annoyed even when he wins, so him losing is even better.

Probably the first time since the Single Wing* formation (or if ever) that a game was decided because one quarterback caught a pass and one didn't.

Later

* In the Single Wing formation that I played in high school, there was a lot of razzle dazzle, and the quarterback was always an eligible receiver.

Best part of the day was Lorcan and I doing ribs in the crock pot( they were great) , making wings and snacking...we enjoyed the game , although he was out by 9:30. Good game , good to see a new champion.

Good game ... unless you like defense and stuff.
I believe the game contained one punt, plus there was the late Patriot drive which ended with the strip-sack and one or two others ending on failed 4th-down tries.
But basically every other drive resulted in a score or a failed score due to a missed easy kick, not because the defense actually stopped anyone.

I have no particular allegiance to defensive vs offensive football so aren't really complaining here, but there is a bit of a contrived notion to all this as the league is clearly rigging things so as to increase scoring for excitement, gambling, and particularly fantasy purposes. And if that's what fans want, then fine. But I get the idea that a new-ish fan today would look at a typical 21-17, 14-7 (or lower) that many of the older fans grew up with and be totally bored with it all. iow, now that they've steered themselves into shoot-outs as the norm, I think they'd have a tough time going back.

Oh yeah, and 'message' ads aren't as much fun to watch as funny ads, and most of them now seem to be going that route.
Yeah that makes me seem shallow, but if the shoe fits ...

Apparently this is to signify the holiday in the Muslim calendar which marks the end of Ramadan.
But, man, the colors and the timing sure make it look like an Eagles SB tribute.
And while there are certainly a bunch of NJ-living Iggles fans, that would certainly be weird in the heart of NYC and with a division rival right across the river.

The ESB put up Astros colors back in October and have been doing the colors of other championship teams for some time, but usually just on the night the championship is won as opposed to New York teams who get a longer celebration
