Biggest game of the spring so far, in that it gives us a first look at whether or not there is a future for Matt Harvey.

Re: ST IGT NYM @ ATL 2/28

This game pits one of the smartest organizations in baseball against one of the dumbest. Can you guess which is which?

Too easy.

Let's see if Acuna has his cap on straight.

Seriously ATL, your GM cheated and this is what you're worried about?

Re: ST IGT NYM @ ATL 2/28

A strikeout each of their top prospect and top hitter in the first inning, along with a pickoff?

I'll take it, Harv. Stay focused, now. One more inning.

Encouraging for sure. Radio only, yes?

I think seo, yes.

Braves radio guy Ben Ingram is being played by Hank Azaria as Jim Brockmire, except I think he's sober.

It's not really a guess. I mean, one organization hasn't won a playoff series since 2001 and has recently had executives banned from baseball. They're the smart one right?

Gets out of a first-and-third with a run-scoring double-play grounder. I approve.

Hitting 96 MPH.

Serious question here, usually pitcher's velocity improves as the spring wears on right?

Re: ST IGT NYM @ ATL 2/28

Dunno. It would seem. Or at least I would think it would become more consistent. There is also usually a dead-arm period of Spring, or so it has been said.

And Nimmo ties it up because he is glorious.

Re: ST IGT NYM @ ATL 2/28

Fangraphs lists his average FB velocity at 94.3 last year. I'm hoping the ST gun isn't on the juice and he got a couple ticks back.

Dumb guys losing to the smart guys. Blame Rhame!

Not anymore! Arnaldo Berrios (you know who he is!) just hit a two-run homer to give the Mets the lead in the 9th.

Berrios = another undersized outfielder, struggling to stick at St. Lucie. A switch hitter from the interstate who Tim Tebow blew past on the depth chart last season.

Very nice.

Does the shortest player in camp get the Quilvio Veras Award? (or is it the Fernando Vina Award?)
Baseball Reference lists both of them at 5'9" but I saw both of them while they were at Binghamton and can tell you neither was taller than 5'7". They were dimensionally challenged.

I'm already sick of Ronald Acuna. He was listed the top prospect in baseball by several scouting mavens (Before the next Babe Ruth came over from Japan).
And I have a feeling he's going to a pain in the Mets ERA for a long time.

Acuna will fall like grass before the sickle.

As for Berrios, he hasn't been to Bingo yet, having briefing filled in at AAA this season before being relegated back to Columbia and St. Lucie for the summer. You must be thinking of some other modestly built guy.

He's listed 5'9" 154 lbs.
But he will be in competition for the award with Patrick Biondi, who is listed at 5' 8", 171 lbs. Didn't someone here call him the garden gnome?
