Boomerang

Looking around camp, there are five second-tenure Mets back with the club after joining some other cause for a while.
[list:20m4kosl][*:20m4kosl]Jay Bruce[/*:m:20m4kosl]
[*:20m4kosl]Matt den Dekker[/*:m:20m4kosl]
[*:20m4kosl]Ty Kelly[/*:m:20m4kosl]
[*:20m4kosl]José Reyes[/*:m:20m4kosl]
[*:20m4kosl]Jason Vargas[/*:m:20m4kosl][/list:u:20m4kosl]

Assuming (no small thing) that all five guys at some point are simultaneously members of the big league roster, would this be some sort of team record?

Re: Boomerang

The 1983 Mets had Seaver, Staub, Kingman, and Jorgensen.

That was my first thought for a comparison.

1987 had Bill Almon, Lee Mazzilli, and Clint Hurdle, and almost had Tom Seaver III.

You figure Vargas will be better in round 2. Bruce could be also. But it remains rare.

Bonilla still on the payroll.

And now I'm seeing Kelly batting. When/how did he find his way back into the fold, exactly?

Signed a minor league deal on January 26.

The morning show for Nash FM in New York always reminds me of our ex-Phillie, non-roster ulitiltyman of Israeli descent.

The 2003 Mets were the second time around for Jeromy Burnitz, Roger Cedeño, David Cone, and Tsuyoshi Shinjo.

I'm having trouble finding more than four.
