Tommy Moore?

According to Wikipedia (yes, I know) Tommy Joe Moore, who pitched for the Mets in 1972 and 1973 and was sent to St. Louis with Ray Sadecki in the trade that brought Joe Torre to the Mets, died in November. (A UMDB fan told me about it this morning.) I don't want to mark him "dead" in the UMDB with only Wikipedia as a source, but I don't see anything anywhere else. I assume that if G-Fafif considers him to be alive, he probably is.

I see there's a Tommy Moore who died in November in Tennessee, but that Tommy Moore was born in 1956, or well after the Mets' Tommy Moore. I haven't otherwise come across anything regarding the ballplayer and still have him marked as not dead at the present time.

Thanks for checking. We'll have to keep an eye out for further news. If he is dead, I'd hate to have him find out about it from us.

Hi guys, Haven’t posted in forever but came here looking for Tommy Moore info and figured I’d shed some light. I was messaged by a friend in AZ that was trying to reach out to Tommy, I imagine to get an autograph. He received a message from Tommy’s wife that he passed. The only thing I could find immediately was that Wikipedia posting. Apparently done by a family member. I told some of my Mets fan buddies. I’m guessing one of them reached out to UMDB. George, Joe, Ed, Mark, Lee, David or Steve. I have been friendly with Tommy for several years due to my pursuits and we became long distance phone buddies. Last April he signed a bunch of things for me and others in my group. He had a blast and had some great tales to tell me about his Mets days. I have not spoken to him since due to my own Moms falling health and a long distance move South. Anyway, I was able to locate information through Facebook with what appears to be Tommy’s children and a grandsons wife and his passing appears to be true. The Facebook tribute postings are at the date given on Wikipedia. I have messaged his wife and son and hope to hear back, but you never know. Just wanted to let you guys know. If I receive any info I’ll pass it along. Peace Lou

Thanks for the well wishes Edgy. Unfortunately Mom passed February 13th. She was 91, was in her recliner watching television with my sister by her side. She felt her time was near and chose to live her remaining days in the house she callled home for 50 years. It was important to leave on her terms. Again thank you.

Condolences, Lou. Sounds like a good, long life for your mom. Sorry to hear about Mr. Moore. Bob Murphy always touted him as a prospect, and here we are remembering him as a Met. Pretty good.
