That's something like an A team, minus the shortstop. This notion of batting Céspedes second is starting to look like a thing.

Ty Kelly can be on my team anyday. Flores on 1st after a painful elbow HBP, Ty gets him over by smashing an infield single off the pitcher.

Ty has seemingly hurt his chances in the past by not growing a baseball body. He's built like a Torre-era Met, kinda like Doug Flynn. He just looks like a guy. Slim and athletic, but nobody's idea of graduate of #BarwisMethods.

an infield single on a hit-and-run by my new adopted kid David Thompson sees Kyle Kazmuh-whatshisname scamper to third. Guillorme follows with an opposite field single and we're tied at 5 in the 8th. Wilmer up, late inning excitement at First Data Filed OMG edit: double play, Wilmer. :'-(

Evans made a memory. He looks significantly less tubby this spring, and this is the sort of moment that leaves an imprint on a manager's consciousness. With T.J. recuperating (and Reynolds gone), both he and Cecchini have caught up to him in the organizational rankings. I'm curious with how the Mets rank the three, but I like 'em all and am curious to see who gets the next call when an infielder is needed. But with his broad outfield experience and switch-hittiness, I guess the next call goes to Ty.

Don't forget Guillorme. No pop to speak of, but a guy who gets on base like Zimmo and catches everything in front of him (including bats!). The Mets could do worse in a short-term pinch than run him out there.

This is the 3rd year in a row I figured on them going with a young second baseman (fourth if you consider I was a proponent of trading Muffy too early) with a different young guy in mind each time, be it Flores, Hererra, Cecchini and today, Guillorme. Instead we get guys other teams broke in like Walker, Walker, and Cabrera. I am hopping aboard Team Guillorme For Second Base in 2018. Evans for all his heroics looks like a good bet to repeat Vegas and win his way back as a reserve, Guillorme almost assuredly also starts in the minors but I'd love to see him get a chance alongside Rosario. I haven't tuned in for a Rosario update but I also would guess Guillorme could get a crack if Rosario needs a scope. I'm not sure if the train already departed the station with Cecchini.

Cecchini has an object lesson in departed boats next to him at the Thanksgiving table. His brother Garin was a top-60-or-so prospect, but he got boxed out by an organization that preferred to look for the big name free agent (Pablo Sandoval, of all people), hasn't had a big league beer since 2015, and has jumped organizations twice in the last two seasons, and is now six weeks shy of his 27th birthday, jobless and waiting for his agent to call.

Spring training games might or might not mean anything but on Friday night, Guillorme had 3 RBI including a 2 run singles off Giles, the HOU closer. He played SS and booted one grounder but then started a nice DP. Evans moved to SS for Rosario on Saturday which surprised me but he looked good.
