What's going on in Austin, Texas?

Apparently, package bombs were left on the doorsteps of two homes in Austin, Texas today. Both exploded upon being opened. Both homes had African-American residents, but it's not yet known if that's the reason that these particular homes were targeted. Nor do we know how many similar bombs might still be out there waiting to be opened.

And a suspect in the Austin bombing case has apparently blown himself up as police were closing in on him. Perhaps he was just dyslexic and misread the slogan to 'Keep Austin Weird' as 'Keep Austin Wired'.

was he targeting any people or groups in particular? Or was this just random destruction?

The first few packages were delivered to the homes of "people of color" according to the news reports. But then, this latest one, was a tripwire installed across a sidewalk. So the bomber would have had no idea who his eventual victims would be.
