Adrian Gonzalez DeathWatch

So how much rope do you give him?

After his "hot" start, Gonzalez has settled in at a .654 OPS with 1 big HR. Started out 3 for 7, but is only 5 for his last 29. You figure the Mets will give him the month of April I guess.

Meanwhile, Nimmo continues to rake (assuming you move Bruce to 1B).

And the young guys are knocking on the door.

Dominic Smith (AAA): 990 OPS. 2 HR.
Peter Alonso (AA): 1.284 OPS. 3 HR.

Re: Adrian Gonzalez DeathWatch

bad assumption, as Bruce sucks. He might be the third or fourth best 1B option and he might be the 5th best OF option.

I'm more concerned about Rosario. At least Gonzalez is walking and not striking out. And even Bruce is a better backup option there than what we got at short.

Gonzalez is probably not looking at death so much as a possible benching.

Re: Adrian Gonzalez DeathWatch

He has a bad back which can "stiffen up" (is there such a word?) in the cold. They should at least wait until they see how he plays when the weather warms up before they make a decision.

If Smith's play forces the issue for another week or two I'd just make the swap already.
