DeGrom and Thor, then the offense better score a lot more

The rotation is looking more and more suspect as the season progresses. Wheeler and Matz are not nearly as effective and consistent as the Mets obviously hoped they would be. Harvey is a surly head case that has been relegated to bullpen mop up duty. Now Vargas in his first start doesn't look like the answer.

The Mets rotation is looking like a modern version or Spahn and Sain and pray for rain.

Harvey just doesn’t seem to want any instruction does he? I wonder if he’s always been this brash or if he’s just lashing out in pain, like a wounded animal

Well Harvey went to college at UNC, so he's not really accustomed to taking instruction.

Well, at least it worked against San Diego today. Hopefully, it isn't just a one game outburst.

I can't let this one go without a hearty round of applause.

But hey, since this is an academic violation and not an athletics issue, we can't really punish UNC. As you were. Nothing to see here.

Wheeler's kinda been okay.

Vargas will probably be better than that?

I dunno, weather warms up, Eiland's message starts to solidify, you hope some of these guys start to find more of a rhythm.

Finding consistent performance at the back end of the rotation is a goal everybody seeks. Some days, you've got to ask your bats to win it.

I think it was easy to get caught up in two things -- the 13-4 start and the "finally, the five aces are together" narrative. Neither of those were real. If we have two guys who we can really count on, and then get at least one of the other three every time through, then we're in pretty good shape. Fact is, we're still in first place.
