IGT #39 5/16 Blue Jays in the afternoon

Blue Jays are 1-4 in NY this season. Their only win coming in the Bronx, as all their NY wins have ever come from, ever. This one is scheduled to start at 1 but like, RAIN RAIN RAIN is coming down down down in rushing rising rivlets.. I imagine they'll try to squeeze it in in some manner. The Blue Jays do technically come back to NY but the Mets are not around those times. Unless they want to try to play a really funky DH on 8/18 where they play a day game in the Bronx and the Mets play the Phillies and then rush back to NY to play a night game against the Jays. seems unlikely. This one will feature Wheeler and J.A. Happ. Though rain threatening may be heavy bullpen too. Happ is pretty much textbook league average. He's actually been really good this season just with too many home runs, though his last two starts have been crap and he only struck out 3 each game despite still having a career high K%. Mets have seen him a lot, the former Phillie, and hit him well. Thought mostly not this crew. Wheeler meanwhile is coming off a good start against the Reds after a disastrous start against the Rockies. I guess there's still hope he can be a little better with his control and walk fewer, strike out others.

ceetar had that IGT streak back in April of 2015. If he goes on another run like that we'll be back in business. Let's give a start to the defensive wizard WHO THEY CANNOT GET OUT IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES.

I'll always remember JA Happ when he was a Phillies rookie and beat Santana on July 4. Typical deeply disappointing 2008 kind of game. I was disgusted, listening to it on the radio while watching the fireworks over the East River with 2-year-old Lunchpail and in a terrible mood. We walked home and Lunchpail subsequently vomited all over our brand-new couch. Fuck you, JA Happ.

Lobaton #untenable We have a lefty throwing 90 here. We should be able to pulverize him. It would sure be easier with Céspedes available, though. And Frazier. And d'Arnaud. And Plawecki. And Rivera. And Wright.

Once the game starts it's in the hands of the umpires, so what the Mets think -- booth, dugout, or front office -- is irrelevant at this point. Only prior to a game starting is the home team in charge of things -- like the time the Yanx canceled a game some six hours in advance when their weather people decided there was a 100% chance of Strasburg forecast for right around game time.

All kidding aside, it's my understanding that it's the home team's call before first pitch, then the umpires' decision after first pitch. With our beat up roster, and the dicey forecast for today, why not just call the game? Put it back on when we hopefully have Ces and Plaw and Frazier.

Another garbage outing by Wheeler. Maybe the Giants knew what they were doing in the Beltran trade. Wheeler would be gone on a team with depth but the Mets depth is Vargas.

Gsellman? Are you fucking kidding me? Gsellman and Lugo are vital pieces of our bullpen. They are so important we are keeping them out of the rotation despite being far better candidates than at least two of our current starters. Mickey has now burned Lugo in a blowout win yesterday, and is now bringing in Gsellman while losing 6-0 in the rain.

You know, ever since I was a kid, any time the Mets fell behind big on rainy-ish day, I would wish for the skies to open and wash out the game. I don't remember every being granted that wish. How would one look this up? I'm sure Greg knows off the top of his head. I think just once I'd like to see a 6-0 deficit get wiped out with Mets batting in the bottom of the fifth.

I wrote what I wrote because during a set against the Indians, the booth, and especially Keith, were making comments about the Indians and their uniform history and one time Mets that played for the Indians that I was positive were based on having viewed my baseball card thread.
