The pitching coach on his Opening Day pitcher and at least co-ace Noah Syndergaard, per the Post's Mike Puma: " He's spent, what, 2 1/2 years in the big leagues? So I don't know where all the expectations came from, I wasn't here for all that, but he [has] yet to do a whole lot at the major league level."

In context, it's less damning. He's trying to defend Noah from criticism, but the way he said it was dopey and it sounds like he's taking a swipe at him instead. https://nypost.com/2018/05/14/mets-rota ... ndergaard/

I thought it was interesting , Eiland looks like he might be trying to bring "Thor" down a notch or two ....also protecting him as Seo noted....

But it's still stupid and wrong and he's one of the best pitchers in the game RIGHT NOW and maybe what we don't want is him feeling like he has to go out next outing and throw 103?
