Yanni or Laurel?

Yesterday, I had the radio on in my car during my lunch break, and I'm pretty sure I heard "Yanni". But hours later, when driving home listening to All Things Considered, I clearly heard "Laurel".

Re: Yanni or Laurel?

My wife was listening in another room --bear in mind I had no idea at the time that this was a thing--and I heard Yanni. When she told me what was going on I came into the room, and held the phone, when I clearly heard Laurel.

I have no idea what this discussion is actually about, but in the audio clip Kong posted I clearly hear Laurel.

Re: Yanni or Laurel?

Is this the audio version of that 'what color is the dress' silliness from a year or so ago?

I clearly heard YANNY (actually, it sounded more like YAMMY) and if someone is hearing LAUREL then they're clearly listening to a different clip than me because there's no fucking way someone could be fed
the same sound bite and hear anything resembling LAUREL

Then whatever is generating the clip is generating different outputs randomly.
It's the same as that stupid dress thing.

I'm playing this thing over and over with Lunchpail in the room and he votes for Yanni while I vote for Laurel. Weird, man

My SO and I sat in the same room last night, on opposite sides of her dining room table, equidistant from my computer, and played the clip. I clearly heard LAUREL and she clearly heard YANNY.

Re: Yanni or Laurel?

We were at a hibachi steakhouse last night and there was a birthday party
seating with about ten 12 yr-old boys and halfway through everyone had their
phones out and they started yelling at each other whether it was Yanny or Laurel.
It was hysterical. The Mom apologized to us twice and I told her it was the funniest
thing I'd seen all week and thanked her for the floor show.

Exactly the same wrestling match between my 8-year-old-- a yowling, enthusiastically-wrong Yanny-- and me.

And then wifey smacks us both over the head with a folding chair, talking some "I hear 'Hermes'" BOOshit.

Not funny by a million miles. As if thers's anything those shameless scumbags could ever do to soften their scumbag images. With McCarthy, at least you could have you no shame him. Not these swindlers and grifters. They're like cockroaches: immune and impervious to almost everything.

I guess we're all supposed to like this gang of future felons after watching that stupid video where they laugh at themselves. The joke's on us. While we're watching this vile video, Jared's extorting half a billion from Qatar and imposing a crooked blockade on it.

And that count Ivanka is hosting the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem as if she's friggin' Vanna White on the Wheel of Fortune. What I wanna know is how that typewriter managed to steal millions by abusing the emoluments clause with all those cameras on her in Jerusalem. Boy does that family know how to rob!

It’s not Yanny or Laurel.
It’s Flint, Michigan still doesn’t have clean water and Puerto Rico still doesn’t have electricity.

Yeah, this, and the grossly over the top reaction in a FB group full of liberals saying that podcasts meant to discuss things of entertainment should tone down the doom and gloom rhetoric a bit in "art imitating IRL" discussions, is a perfect example of how far the political party line divide is in this country.

Come on, if that was the Obama Administration, you'd get a chuckle out of it, especially with that ending that referenced a past gaffe.

Of course the extreme Obama haters would say "WTF are they doing making a silly video about the latest silly viral distraction of the day! They should be blah blah blah about this and that...not doing silly things like this and the Presidential March Madness (tm) Picks!" but that's where the whole "just because the extreme fringes of the other side did it, doesn't mean you should do it when the shoe is on the other foot" comes in.

You think the Obama administration is like this scumbag Trump administration as far as corruption goes? Or anything, really?

Weaponizing the CIA to spy on journalists, and eventually his successor?

Fast and Furious? Drones?

Not the reality show fish bowl today, but don’t act like it was Camelot for 8 years.

Re: Yanni or Laurel?

Besides, my point was that you viciously went after a fluffy, silly and non-partisan video on the viral distraction noise debate of the day as if it was the latest screed during a national crisis or press briefing dumpster fire.

Something that YOU would tell someone who bashed Obama’s yearly March Madness bracket to “lighten up, don’t take everything so seriously.”
