Some typos in Metirish's post, misplaced decimal points in the ERA figures, and a '4'" instead of '3' in Reyes' OBP. Is this correct, Irish?

Bump...as the annoying capitalized title states, I couldn't remember what section 3 was from last year's Met Predictions. I remembered it and added in. This is a fun game.

Johnny Dickshot

While you're at it, maybe add a whacky tiebreaker: Total number of rainouts.

Do we know who won this dealie last year? Was it wiped out?

Elster88

I dunno. I wasn't in charge.

That tiebreaker sounds fine to me: Total number of rainouts.

Folks, don't be afraid of Bret. If he tries to make fun of your prediction for Reyes' OBP or whatever the fuck, just ignore him. He's just a malcontent looking for attention.

I encourage you to update your predictions to include the new team categories on the first post of this thread. You can't win if you don't play.

Bret Sabermetric

You can't win if you post ridiculous things, either. Just trying to give Irish a chance to get his posts back to earth.

Maybe their should be a starts minimum for starter-specific categories and an innings minimum for all pitching categories. I'll assign them if no one else speaks up. Or if no one else cares.

Edit: I think the standard is 1 inning pitched per game played to qualify as a starter. We can use that. I'm leaning towards just waiting until the end of the season and seeing the breakdown of innings pitched for each pitcher and setting a cutoff then. But more importantly, does anyone really care?

7.5 as the projected high for losses by a pitcher is pretty nice. Though it mostly is due to the high number of pitchers used this year.

Ummm. Not sure. I think so.

That's a little to the side of what I was getting at. I was underlining my surprise at seeing his ERA at 2.04 and leading the team. Whether he was on the team or not, I doubt the number of times he was picked (zero) would've changed.

Wow, I'm not winning this game, I don't think.

20 starts for Bannister? 22 homers for Beltran?

Here we go. Time to wrap this thing up. I have no idea how to score this.

What I plan to do is give one point for every time someone predicted correctly. If more than one person gets it, they both/all get one point. If no one guesses exactly, whoever is closest gets a point. (Again if there is a tie, both/all people get a point.)

If anyone has a better scoring system, let me know. I'll post the results by mid-afternoon.

Admins, could we pop this in the baseball forum one last time, until it disappears to the back pages again?

Edit: Also, if more than one player tie in a category, you get full credit if you match either/any.

Edit2: I'm also not sure how to break up starters vs. non-starters. I'm thinking 10 starts or more? Anyone disagree, let me know. (For BA and SLG, etc., a hitter needs over 500 ABs) Also, 60 IP needed to qualify for ERA highs and lows.

While we're looking at predictions, lets get the Standings Prediction Thread.

Not sure what you mean marathon. So if I were to use 3-2-1, does that mean if you get it right you get 3, if more than one person get it right they get 2 each, and if no one gets it right the closest person(s) get 1?

Or the top 3 closest get 3, 2, and 1 respectively?

We have rpackrat --- who we haven't heard from in five months --- on the first page of this thread.

In this case, I'd rather go with my original way of scoring it, since I already did the counting.

sorry. i was being unclear. 3 points for the closest to teh right answer, 2 points for next closest, and 1 for third closest.

or going with a 10-4-1 (or 10-3-1) scheme would give you a wider spread, and more reward for getting one right.

either way, i'm cool.

my understanding going in was there was no minimum inning/game/pa requirement for any of the rate stats... adding that might help me, granted, but doing it with a requirement would i think force one participant into having an incompatible answer.
