Drafted 3 times, but his dad made him finish his education at Arizona State.

is like being Shemp.
He was part of a great team, but folks tend to remember the other guys first.

I just remember him as being so young.

Since I was a kid in 1969, I was drawn to his absolute youth.

Some people said he had a harder fastball than Seaver.

Come to think of it, maybe that was Seaver on one of his "it ain't how fast, it's how much movement and where it's thrown" rants.

I remember as a kid thinking that Frank Sinatra was singing about Gary Gentry in "Love and Marriage."

There's an account I thinly recall of game three of the 1969 Series, where the Orioles were supposedly prepped by their scouts that the Mets had Seaver, Koosman, and little else. The account has Davey Johnson (I think) returning to the bench after his first at-bat saying to Earl Weaver, "Seaver-Koosman-nuthin', who the Hell is this Gentry?"

I forget where I read this, but in 1969 there were a lot of reporters in the locker room who didn't know anything about the team.. At one point Gentry and Seaver exchanged shirts and answered questions as each other. Quote (Gentry as Seaver): "I think Gary Gentry is a horshit pitcher."

After three and a half months, DinoJesus is finally in Paul Siebert country.
