A quick look at how much slack the major players on the 2006 NYM have before the boo-birds turn on their asses.

Those getting a semi-pass

LoDuca, Nady/Diaz -- Won't get the cat-calls until they struggle from the beginning through mid-May

Floyd, Heilman -- Only if still in a funk by late June

Reyes, Pedro -- Get a pass until after the A-S Break

Wright -- Not unless he dances on the Shea Stadium mound and performs a ritual killing of Mr. Met while wearing a Jeter jersey

Those on a Short Leash

Glavine, Delgado, Beltran -- Get the raspberries at the first sign of a 2-week slump

Trachsel -- During his first poor start

Wagner -- First blown save

Julio -- First HR and/or 3-ball count

Zambrano -- During Opening Day Introductions

Matsui -- As soon as the plane from Florida lands at LaGuardia

Heilman is on a MUCH shorter leash. He's between Traxxxxx and Wagner.

I kinda feel for Julio, he has so much going against him and he looks like Benitez.....it's a can't win situation.

Nady has a scaffold with his name on it now. Effigies are being prepared.

Peeps in dropping the hate on both Nady and Beltran, will cry out a love of Mike Cameron that they rarely ever expressed to him while he was here.

No they won't. Cameron came, kicked ass and left before anyone noticed.

They'll let on like they noticed.

]We traded Mike Cameron for that chump! Mike Freaking Cameron! He was awesome!
.

Book it.

I suspect we'll hear just as much of "Whudya expect? We traded Cameron for him?!?"

And if Cameron his 30 home runs in San Diego, the question won't be "why'd we trade him/" but "Why couldn't he do that for us?"

And of course, the response will be "he did," followed by much silence. :)

leave out the Jeter jersey and i don't even think anyone woul boo him.

i think reyes is on a much longer leash than you think because the majority of those who go to games aren't statheads and dont care if he gets on base... if he goes 1-5 with a steal they'll go home saying he had a good game.

i think wagner is on a longer leash too, he comes in here with a good reputation and that'll buy him more than just a few blown saves. his party will last until he blows one in september against the braves or blows 2 in a row anywhere.

julio might have had the shortest leash ever if not for matsui. the first popout or bobbled grounder will get him a chorus of "boooooooooooo"
