Bragging/Crying about your other leagues
Nymr83 Apr 01 2006 08:09 PM |
...and i'll do a little of both to start us off, my 10 team NL-only auction went pretty, i'm sure you'll all hear about it (or skim over it) later in the year, but first my 12-team NL-only auction...

I am in four leagues, the one I am in for money I just traded Jason Schmidt, Aaron Rowen and Juan Peirre for Seo, Delgado and Jose Guillen.
Rotblatt Apr 02 2006 07:47 AM |
I missed my draft for a SABRE-oriented league which doesn't value steals at all. I neglected to pre-rank, so Yahoo! took Reyes & Furcal back to back in rounds 3 & 4.

i'll assume this is a 10 or 12 team NL-only since all 6 players you mentioned are national leaguers? I hope you have another source of speed.
metirish Apr 02 2006 11:31 AM |
No it's an AL/NL league, as for speed I have Reyes, although Tejada is the SS.....

I have a team in a league for another Mets board (forgive me, I've been unfaithful). 10 team, H2H.
GYC Apr 02 2006 05:04 PM |
In the same league as OlerudOwned...:
Zvon Apr 02 2006 05:04 PM |
a 6 team h2h league with my brothers and some friends. Many more catagories.
Nymr83 Apr 02 2006 06:23 PM |
no way, shallow leagues are B-O-R-I-N-G.
Zvon Apr 04 2006 05:02 PM |
You think 9 teams would be shallow? Boring? Not me. According to statistics the ideal league is 12 teams.
Diamond Dad Apr 05 2006 07:56 AM Draft night last nigh! |
The best night of the year is Draft Night in my main league, called Rotissaria. The league was founded in 1987 and I've been in since 1989. Back in the stone age when we did stats by hand and faxed them to the commish, who did the standings by hand (once per month).

9 teams is mind-bogglingly shallow for a mixed league. 12 is the bear minimum i'd want in a mixed league. i am in a 12 team NL-only league right now that uses the standard 23 starting players, thats depth.
Diamond Dad Apr 05 2006 10:10 AM Depth |
I've never been in an NL-only league, but I agree that 9 teams in a mixed league is ridiculous -- it's an all-star team. Stud at every position. Key is to pick the best studs.

Fantasy baseball is a funny game sometimes, i drafted a team (in an auction league) that i thought was short on power but full of steals... well i've got 2 steals and 14 homers so far
GYC Apr 17 2006 08:23 PM |

Scoring didn't start until Week 2. I won easily. Glavine is looking like the steal of the draft so far. Unless, someone drafted Shelton. But probably not.

I did wind up moving Griffey during the 1st week of the season, for Josh Beckett. Then Griffey got hurt and the team who aquired him had no DL space left due to a rash of injuries was forced to drop him. I have an empty DL, so the waiver pick up is pending. I'm an asshole.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 05:04 PM |
what the hell kind of league is shallow enough that dropping griffey is even a choice?

Beltran, from CBS Sports Fantasy:
cooby May 10 2006 09:02 PM |
19-54, 0.352 BA, 4 2B, 7 RBI, 10 R, 2 SB, 3 BB

He's pitching Friday, and not on the waiver wire in our league just yet. But he's had a great start to the year in the minors (1.04 ERA, 65 K's in 43 innings).

cooby Jun 03 2006 09:36 PM |
All these extra inning games are doing a number on my batting average

You know, as soon as I drop El Duque and Soler, they turn into freaking Cy Young candidates. I'm going to go trade for Steve Trachsel and then drop him.
Nymr83 Jun 11 2006 12:37 PM |
i've had basically that kind of year myself

My husband and I have started a league where we work. It's slowly filling up but we should have the 10 we need by our draft.

we had the auction in my keeper league, heres my team (10 team nl only)
metirish Apr 05 2007 07:28 AM |
For an NL only team that's pretty good, and your pitching isn't terrible by any means, hell if Lilly and Wells keep giving you good starts like they did this week then it's all good.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2007 11:03 AM |
he was one of my 8 keepers actually, the guy is a mess but at $16 ($260 budget) i couldnt just let him go. i was upset not to get dan wheeler (he went for like $6 which is too much for a non-closer reliever) to back him up
cooby Apr 08 2007 06:51 PM |
While checking my lineup today, I found out that one of my players (Tim Salmon) is retired. Why would they even list him during the draft? Boy, do I feel like a schmuck.
Nymr83 Apr 08 2007 07:23 PM |
my guess would be he retired with a contract in place and.or didn;'t officially file retirement papers by the time the website built their database for the year....why would you want Salmon anyway?
cooby Apr 08 2007 07:27 PM |
I nabbed him very late in our draft, figuring he would make a good utility player to start out with until I had time to tend to my team.
A Boy Named Seo Apr 09 2007 10:38 AM |
That's pretty funny, girl. BTW- If you have Darryl Kile in your rotation, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you.

I oughta check, they probably have him available, sheesh.

I'm pretty dead in this league, but my $$$ league is doing ok. I'm in 4th place right now, 11 points behind the leader. the top 5 teams have all traded away keepers to the bottom 5 teams for top players so all the top teams look stacked.
metsmarathon Jul 26 2007 01:39 PM |
in one of my many many other leagues, i'm trading mark teixeira and jason bay for albert pujols and brian mccann.
Nymr83 Jul 26 2007 01:44 PM |
who is mccann replacing in your lineup and who goes into bay's spot? that looks like a good trade unless you're benching a good catcher (V-Mart, Mauer)
metsmarathon Jul 26 2007 01:46 PM |
mccann either replaces jason bay directly in my util spot, or mike napoli gets dropped for the best available free agent hitter.
Nymr83 Jul 26 2007 02:19 PM |
most definitely, McCann is a guy to have in keeper leagues, Bay at this point really isn't.
metirish Sep 17 2007 08:41 PM |
I'm in the championship game in this league.
metsmarathon Sep 21 2007 01:33 PM |
nice. i'm battling for my second championship in three years in my mofo keeper league.
metirish Oct 01 2007 07:03 AM |
I won that league above, I'm proud as punch as it's the first I have ever won, did four leagues this year, tow on yahoo , won one and finished second to last in our league, played two on CBS and lost in the championship matchup in one and didn't make the playoffs in the other.
Nymr83 Oct 01 2007 08:52 AM |
4th in my money league, tied for 3rd if Josh Fogg gets a W today (he's not on my team but it would take a half point away from the guy ahead of me)
metsmarathon Oct 01 2007 09:40 AM |
and i win as well, on a tie-breaker.
Fman99 Oct 22 2007 02:29 PM |
Won a keeper league I started up in 2002. My first win, after blowing the lead on the last day of '02. First prize was $510.

heading into year four of the mofo fantasy baseball league (which i've won twice) i had to choose five keepers of the following:

I'm currently getting freakin' schooled in my first H2H league. Sad, sad state of affairs. It's a 20-team league with a bunch of people some of whom claim not even to know much about baseball and they're rocking my world weekly. Everyone on my team is hurt or cold (except Bill Hall, who seems to be cooling off). Not good times.
willpie Oct 14 2008 08:36 AM |
So it turns out I suck at fantasy football. I'm 1-5 right now, after squeaking out a victory this week. Taking Tom Brady with my first round pick was bad luck, but 1-5 doesn't come down to just a QB. I'm consistently lousy. This is my first year playing fantasy football, but I figured I know a bit about football, I have a decent sense of how fantasy sports work, and how hard can it be? Oops.
cooby Oct 14 2008 12:57 PM |
Knock on big wood, but I am 6-0.
Nymr83 Oct 14 2008 12:59 PM |
i hate H2H. i'm not doing football at all this year (except for a pick 'em)
Vic Sage Oct 16 2008 03:46 PM |
i won a H2H baseball league, which was some consolation for sucking in the Cranepool league this year. But i agree, 83... i hate H2H.
metsmarathon Oct 07 2009 08:43 AM Re: Bragging/Crying about your other leagues |
for the third year out of five, i have won the mofo fantasy baseball keeper league.
