Co-Workers Who Ain't Shootin' Straight

When my supervisor's supervisor neds to take off, maybe cut out a a few hours early to look after her ill mother, my supervisor takes unannounced secret leave --- cuts out of her office leaving her extra coat behind, computer running, maybe even hot coffee on her desk, before coming back five minutes before close of business to ask me how it's hanging, discretely hiding a bag of books from Borders*.

If you're going to goof off, at least have the good graciousness to stay where you belong and goof off on the internet, so peeps can find you if they need you. One of these days, the supervisor's supervisor is going to leave, pause a second, and the supervisor is going to run right up her ass.

The vice president (supe's supe) is off tomorrow. It'll be shocking if the supe is in here for more than two hours.

*Which, though they may reflect what she thinks is her political stripe, or what the Washington Post tells her she should be reading, I know she doesn't read.

If there's any justice, another co-worker at the same time is on the phone talking to a friend saying, "I don't know what Edgy does in there. It's either the Mets or porn. Got to be."

I think if I worked at the Post Office I'd want co-workers who weren't shooting straight.
That would increase the odds that they'd miss me.
