IGT 5/23/2018: MIA@NYM -- Before the Brutality

We count on Jake to take us to the airport in style and lead us to the first win of the Jose Bautista Era. His mound opponent will be Dan Straily.

I get the notion that, if Conforto can get some consistent traction, we might have a lineup start to develop around him.

Mick seems to be living by the same hope.

Re: IGT 5/23/2018: MIA@NYM -- Before the Brutality

In games in which Conforto and Rosario record at least two hits apiece this year, the Mets are 1-0.

In game in which Conforto and Rosairo record at least one hit apiece AND one of them records at least two hits, the Mets are 3-0.

Bottom line: Conforto and Rosario haven't hit much in the same game this year.

Kerwin Dantley (behind the plate tonight) being a crew chief can't do wonders for Angel Hernandez's lawsuit claim that he's only being kept from being a crew chief due to racism.

Another great outing by Jacob DeGrom. Even though he was struggling a little with his location, he was able to throw quality pitches to get the key outs when he needed to. With this outing, DeGrom is now the NL leader in ERA.

True. It was only due to DeGrom's greatness that the the solo shot from Nimmo had a chance of providing the Mets with a win.

That's where you're wrong. The Marlins' rally in the 9th was painful, but the brutality is scoring 4 runs total in 3 games against the Marlins.

Or, looked at another way, one fewer run than the Braves scored against the Marlins in the 9th inning of Sunday's game after there were already two outs!!

Re: IGT 5/23/2018: MIA@NYM -- Before the Brutality

It reminded me of the Braves series the first week of May. I went to the first game, and no sooner had a sat down, then the Braves took a 3-0 lead. It's early, I said, and there is plenty of time to get those back.

The Mets not only failed to score, three runs that game, they failed to register three for the entire series.

Combined score that series, Braves 21, Mets 2.

Re: IGT 5/23/2018: MIA@NYM -- Before the Brutality

Given how the season started, I really thought I'd be able to get to a Mets game this year before I became disillusioned. I probably should have gone in April.

2017 was the first year since 2003 that I didn't attend at least one Mets game. Hopefully I'll be able to motivate myself to get there at least once this year. If I lived in New York I'd certainly go, but since Citi Field is about three hours away it takes a bit more effort.
