TWiB Notes - Week of May 28 - Jun 3

The Astros have 10 hits (3 for XB) plus 4 walks plus were the beneficiary of FIVE Yaqui errors and yet somehow managed only 5 runs out of all that.
So of course the Yanx just tied it up in the 9th on Brett Gardener's 2nd HR of the game.

I wonder how many homers Gardner would hit if he played in a major league ballpark.

Gardner

Including the two tonight, 55 of Gardner's now 88 career HRs have come at home (he's played for just one team) in virtually the same number of PAs
Put another way, that's a rate of exactly 5 out of every 8 (62.5%) at YS II & III. So in a theoretical neutral park that 88 becomes more like 66

I didn't see either of his tonight so I don't know whether either or both were the classic 315 ft specials.

Making his debut pitching outing with the SF Giants tonight was Dereck Ivan Rodriguez

Not quite as 'pudgy' as the old man (listed at 6' 1" - 215) and much better moss.
Didn't pitch so well (don't make your ML debut at Coors Field) but he did hit a double.

Two aces came off the DL last night ... and immediately go right back on it.

LAD, Clayton Kershaw -- after missing a month with biceps tendonitis he now has a lower back strain

StL, Alex Reyes made his 2018 debut ... and now goes down with a "significant lat strain". That sounds like he pulled a Noah

So, y'know, it doesn't only happen to us.

And a bit off the beaten path seeing as how he's not active anymore, but 51 y/o John Smoltz has qualified for the U.S. Senior Open golf tournament
