I know I've been saying this, but the Mets are extremely due. the offense IS actually better than this. They WILL hit. Would be a nice time to wake up and start that 8-4 streak they need to get back into respectability with a sweep.

It would be awesome if Steven Matz could pull a Mlicki, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Matz has never thrown a complete game in his career. And this season, he's only thrown seven innings once. The likelihood of throwing a complete game shutout seems remote. Also remote are the chances of the Mets scoring six runs in a single game. Six runs accounts for all the run scoring for June. The likelihood of both of these things happening in the same game...

I don’t believe the window is closing on this core. deGrom and Noah are still young and under control. Nimmo and Conforto are stars. Rosario still has great potential. Lugo and Gsellman are weapons in the pen and Alonso is on his way. The problem is that they are not supplementing this core. You can rebuild again. But unless we hit the jackpot and are able to develop an entire team like Houston, we will be in this same position 7 years from now when the rebuild materializes again. And we will be lucky to have someone as good as Jake or Noah.

IMO if they blow it up, go rebuild now, and trade deGrom (and maybe Thor), the window is shut for the foreseeable future. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Nimmo, Conforto, Rosario and Alonso (?) have shown little sustained ML production. The love affair with our young "stars" is baffling. Cespedes makes this lineup work-- without him they are punchless. This is a .500 team. Windows aren't closing because they were never open. They 11-1 start was a mirage.
