Soroka just off the DL. He threw 73 pitches in his last rehab start, so a little patience, maybe some early runs would go a long way towards chasing him and winning this game..

I'm not very confident about this one.
While DeGrom pitches well in day games, the Mets couldn't hit playing a video baseball game.

In a big situation — close game and runners on — who is more dis-spiriting to see walk up to the plate? Bruce or Conforto?

I figure if you're looking for a strikeout on a pitch up, Conforto's your man. If you want a soft liner off the end of the bat into the shift, go for Bruce.

Gonzalez was the double play specialist. That position is currently open.

For those not watching SNY, they just gave a tiny tidbit to prep us for the
next series: The Mets have scored just 52 runs in their last 17 games. The
D'backs have scored 51 runs in their last 5 games.

Slight tangent and I'm in full-on "why don't they make the whole plane out of the black box" territory but if MLB really wanted to do something about pace of play and the length of games, they'd make every contest a midweek getaway day game.

A good argument could have been made for Nolan Ryan 1987. 8-16 record, BUT...

led the league in ERA, ERA+, Strikeouts, hits per 9, Ks per 9, and K-BB ratio.

He finished fifth.

If only Cespedes could go on another Babe Ruth spree. And we still had the Daniel Murphy of the second half of 2015. And Matt Harvey and Steven Matz pitching like all stars. And Familia pitching like the best reliever in all of baseball. Then we could win more games than we're likely to win.

Or like, Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith adjust to the majors and start mashing, and Conforto gets comfortable? yeah. That could happen too.

Or they could trade for Machado.

Or Cespedes could come back and yes, hit for a wRC+ of like 140.

And it could be perfectly timed so they win like 13/13 games against the Nationals.

Or any of the dozens of arms they've cycled in could get locked in in the bullpen. happens regularly.

No offense, dude, but you bring this up every time they play the Braves at which point somebody, usually me, brings up the stupidity and long-term losing strategy of essentially gifting players,
even power hitters, a 1.000 OBA -- at which point you generally resort to claiming that you didn't literally mean it until the next Braves series when you say the exact same thing.

In Monday's (small) sample size, Freddie:
- came up in the 1st with a runner on 2nd/1-out and promptly K'd. Would you rather walk him there and go to 1st & 2nd w/1out?
- in the 4th he lead off and they walked him. And although HE didn't actually score a run (he was out on that 1-2-5 DP) his leadoff walk set-up the first run of the game.
"How 'bout that?' as Mell Allen used to say
- in the 6th he again led off the the Braves' half and this time he HR'd - but considering that the Braves went on to tack on 2 walks, 3 singles, 2 steals, and an inning-capping Grand Slam, how's the outcome going to be any different there with him walking rather than being pitched to? I'll answer that: none, except that your way you go in KNOWING that he won't make an out rather than taking you chances where there's a greater than 50/50 chance he will.
- and finally in the 7th, he lead off with a walk ... and quickly scored on the following double!!!

His OPS v-NYM is slightly above his overall career numbers -- iow, he's not some kind of magical "Met Killer', he's merely a good hitter who's going to beat you, and them, and everyone else
on occasion.
So do us a favor, either make an argument for actually putting him on each time or drop this six times/season ritual.
And claiming that you only want to 'pitch around him' but not actually walk him is a non-answer.

Your health is important to us.
Yes, no excuse. I post it in the same way people started posting "Fuck Ichiro" and it turned into a thing.
Its my perception that he does seem to do well against the Mets at the most inappropriate times, and I have no statistical backup for that.
He's a pain in the ass against the Mets. I dislike him as much as I disliked Larry Jones. There have been some players who did well against the Mets who I respected - Stargell comes to mind.
Freddie's not one of them.
Maybe in the future, I'll just type "Fuck Freddie Freeman".
Now get better.

It's just frustrating to hear that they should have walked him, but only after something bigger than a walk occurs.
And again, if you want to make the case that 100% walksshould be the case then go ahed and make it. But the passive/aggressive approach is no approach at all.

Right. This was my issue earlier in the year when the Mets seemingly (I don't know if it was intentional or not) were walking Bryce Harper at every opporunity. Runners on, 2 outs? Sure. Walk him. Leading off an inning? No way. Earn that shit.

Yeah my take on Freddie is that he's awesome. Probably more than any player in baseball he's just *looks* like he's about to get a hit every time up, like he's designed to hit the shit out of the ball. It';s the stance but also his eyes and stuff. It's like he feels he has the advantage all the time. I watch him with my hands on my face.

Why get angry with your frustration?
You are generally one of the good guys here.
This is out of character for you.
I admitted I have no statistical backing to it, just gut feel.
Maybe its just jealousy that the Braves have someone as consistently good as him and we don't. I dunno.
I can root for or against any player at any time.
It my right as a fan.
