Billy Connors, Mets pitcher for 15 games across 1967 and 1968, died, depending on the report, either Monday, June 18, or Saturday, June 16, at age 76 (no site of death has been mentioned, but he lived in Tampa). Connors also instructed Mets minor leaguer pitchers between 1972 and 1976 (after serving as the club's BP pitcher in '71), but his larger fame came from his long time connection and contribution to the other New York team. Young Zack Wheeler met him when his brother Adam was in the MFY system and the tour Connors gave him of their minor league complex left an impression.

His hometown paper in Schenectady remembers him in detail.

Connors is fondly regarded around Schenectady. He grew up here and was part of the 1954 Little League World Championship team.
