Kinda sums it up.

Re: My Son Got Me This....

I could wear that, my birthday is next month...
Shouldn't it be mets' fan or have I been punctuating it wrong on the
internet for the last two decades?

Re: My Son Got Me This....

Well, there's no capitals either. But I've never used an apostrophe.

Re: My Son Got Me This....

I see "Mets" in the phrase "Mets fan" as an adjective, which would not require an apostrophe. However, I guess if you see it as meaning "a fan who belongs to the Mets" then the apostrophe would be appropriate.

Re: My Son Got Me This....

i'm a mets fan
i'm a knicks fan
i'm a jazz fan
i'm a heat fan
i'm a thunder fan
i'm a peanut butter and jelly fan

near as i can tell, the apostrophe doesn't belong in any of them. the lack of capitalization is embarrassing tho

Re: My Son Got Me This....

"peanut-butter-and-jelly fan" should be hyphenated.

I love how a picture of a t-shirt turns, immediately, into a discussion of grammar.

Re: My Son Got Me This....

I'm a Mets fan who sometimes goes to the Mets' ballpark to watch the Mets game, toward the end of which I find myself hoping none of the Mets' relievers blows it.

I concur with G-Fafif's apostrophe distribution.

If I'm lucky, I revel in a Met's success.

You've been doing it wrong. It's an adjectival use.

The Mets don't own you, so it's not possessive.

Not so sure I see that.

I have one in Mets colors (blue on orange) with a grimacing face that says "Why us?"

I believe this is correct, and I'm certain marathon's capitalization comment made me laugh!

WFUV's Don McGee, himself a big Mets fan, dedicated this set on his 7/7 'Mixed Bag' show (essentially the Pete Fornatale legacy program) specifically for Mets fans

TEARS, TEARS, AND MORE TEARS -- Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint
TEARS OF A CLOWN -- Smoky Robinson & the Miracles

I'll wear it at the end of the season. If I survive, that is.

That shirt will make less sense in November, after the Mets have just completed the most improbable championship comeback in history.

It really turned around at the end of July when scientists unexpectedly found that fava beans magically cure spinal stenosis.

I'm going to do my part. Tomorrow I'm leaving for South America. Hopefully that will work as well as it did in 2015.

Problem is, if they play like they did down the stretch in 2015.... they'd only get back to about .500.
