Just gone done with a roadtrip and these two were key in getting across very large western states. Cocaine & Rhinestones - exhaustively researched and mind-bendingly thorough podcast chronicling the history of country music, the whole thing done by David Allen Coe's estranged son. I totally love this pod. When my commute was longer, I'd have a lot of time for podcasts. It's tougher now. But I listen to: The West Wing Weekly, which discusses my favorite television show. Three Sides of the Coin, which is all about your favorite New York-based rock band and heavy on minutiae. My Favorite Album by Jeremy Dylan, where musicians and others discuss in great detail the album that influenced them the most. The Guns n Roses episode is really funny because the guy being interviewed talks about loving the CD as a kid not knowing what the band is singing about and bringing it to school for an assignment. He also starts ripping Paul McCartney to shreds, not knowing that the host idolizes McCartney and you can hear the host getting increasingly pissed off. The Washington Post in 2016 had an amazing podcast in 2016 called Presidential that focused on a different president, in order, leading up to Election Day. All the presidents have fascinating stories. They followed up with a new podcast called Constitutional that was based on Constitutional issues, but I didn't enjoy it as much. I think he stopped recording it, but Steve Hofstetter had one called MLB Podcast that was really good. He's a Mets fan and tracks down people like Barry Lyons and Ed Hearn to hear their stories. I've yet to listen to my first podcast. I think it's because I prefer reading to listening.

If it wasn't for the 71 miles each way with my town's news stations fading out about halfway through, I probably wouldn't have listened either. But once I started listening and getting into it, I enjoyed them.

I used to listen to This American Life when I was commuting on the train, have not in years . Second Captains is an excellent podcast from Ireland that I listen at work , also Football Weekly
