The Mission Impossible team is again led by Tom Cruise, in the 6th installment of this franchise.
They try to find stolen plutonium, enough to make three nuclear weapons, while battling the CIA, MI-6, and an international conspiracy.

I never watch these things. I think I saw one on TV once. The one with the Kuala Lumpur Tower.

But we saw this in a drive-in last week, and I called all the plot turns. Bleh.

Was a big fan of the TV show way back when.
Didn't particularly like the first movie and haven't revisited since.

I've only seen number 2, which people said wasn't good.
But I had seen the trailer for this and had also read how Tom Cruise had injured himself doing one of the stunts. I hadn't known he does most of them himself. So I was curious.
It turns out I was pleasantly surprised. This was one of the best action-adventure movies I have seen in a long time. From one danger to another, it reminded me of the old serial films and later, the Indiana Jones movies, in which Spielberg tried to recapture the serial film "feel".
And, yes, the scene where he got hurt was pretty obvious.
Edgy's right. Plot? Meh. And at times I had a tough time separating the good guys from the bad guys because some of the actors looked alike at quick glance.
But who cares? Its a fun ride.

Re: Mission Impossible - Fallout (2018)

Now that I think about it, I did see the most recent incarnation (three years ago - whatever version that was).
We had just completed the sale of my mother's house and my sister and I were leaving the next morning with the cable/phone/internet/etc. already cut off.
So the latest MI was at the local and we killed the night there. A fun ride? Yeah, maybe.
But I remember nothing about the movie today and that was probably true the morning afterward as well ... and therein lies the problem with that series.

oe: and I also wondered how Tom Cruise was injured worse, during the stunt itself or in falling over himself to let the news accidentally leak out that he was injured doing his own stunts.
