Getting Stupid on Twitter

I wonder who are the low-level saps working at MLB that are going to be spending the next few weeks 24-7 going through the Twitter accounts of current, former, and future big-leaguers. I'm not sure how, after what happened to Hader, that four other guys have been outed as having similar skeletons in the closet. Dudes, clean out your closets. Current or former Met most likely to have been tweeting vile shit when he was 17? Gotta be Harvey, right?

Back in my reporter days, there was an incident at a college that involved a student and police, and while we were having trouble contacting the student, we looked on his Facebook page and saw all kinds of photos that would indicate he might have been pretty involved in the activity that he was accused of being involved in. As part of the story, we described things on the page and possibly even used a photo -- but I'm not positive about that. Students on the campus freaked out, accusing us of violating his privacy and such. We explained that when you post things publicly, there is no privacy. (The student had apparently not learned how to use the Facebook privacy settings.) I think that many people who grew up with social media forget that more than their friends see it, or they don't understand the repercussions of people seeing their posts who they might not expect to see them. At the other end of the age spectrum, my mother confuses the Like and Share functions, filling my feed with all kinds of things. I would hope that people like Hader, through working in diverse clubhouses, has had life experiences that have proved enlightening beyond his 17-year-old world.
