Drafted Under Minaya

The following dudes were taken in the draft by the Mets during the reign of Omar Minaya as general manager. There had been some confusion as to who was in charge for which drafts.

During this time, his scouting directors were Russ Bove (2005), Rudy Terrasas (2006–2010).

Listed are only the ones who made it to the big leagues, though some certainly made it with other organizations (Drew Butera), some after even after a release by the Mets (Jonathan Holdzkom), and some didn't sign with them at all, but made it the bigs after being drafted again later (Damien Magnifico).

2005
Mike Pelfrey (Round 1)
Drew Butera (5)
Jon Niese (7)
Bobby Parnell (9)
Luis Martinez (11)
Josh Thole (13)
Pedro Beato (17)
Jeremy Hefner (48)

2006
Kevin Mulvey (2)
Joe Smith (3)
John Holdzkom (4)
Daniel Murphy (13)
Tobi Stoner (16)
Joshua Stinson (37)
Vic Black (41)
Johnny Monell (49)

2007
Eddie Kunz (1)
Zach Lutz (5)
Lucas Duda (7)
Robert Carson (14)
Dillon Gee (21)
Juan Centeno (32)

2008
Ike Davis (1)
Kirk Nieuwenhuis (3)
Josh Satin (6)
Eric Campbell (8)
Collin McHugh (18)
Chris Schwinden (22)

2009
Steven Matz (2)
Darrell Ceciliani (4)
Damien Magnifico (5)
David Buchanan (6)
Mitch Haniger (31)
Joe Mantiply (48)
Zack Godley (50)

2010
Matt Harvey (1)
Matt Den Dekker (5)
Jacob DeGrom (9)
Akeel Morris (10)
Adam Kolarek (11)
Erik Goeddel (24)
Josh Edgin (30)
Jesen Therrien (36)

Re: Drafted Under Minaya

Thanks, Edgy for the clarification.
That 2010 draft would make any organization proud.

Re: Drafted Under Minaya

Check out 2009, though. Everybody who reached the bigs, except for Matz, did it for another organization, after either not signing or crapping out with the Mets. The only one who at first glance seems to have gotten any traction was 50th-rounder Zack Godley, and he did it after getting taken the next year and signed by the Phils.

And Matz, of course, has spent multiple years in the wilderness.

Ceciliani came up as a Met, but didn't do anything. And has continued to do nothing since.
And Haniger was an All-Star this year after being a first-round pick in 2012.
