Give my regards to Facebook...

So I've deleted (not just deactivated) my Facebook page. As i said in my farewell message over there, I can't keep allowing myself to be sold to Facebook advertisers so that Zuckerberg can profit from his irresponsible complicity in the downfall of civilization just so i can wish people i barely know a happy birthday and show pictures of my kids and dogs to old high school pals. So don't look for me over there anymore. If you have a message for me, just PM me here at the Pool.

Good for you. Zuck basically allowed the whole thing to become weaponized. I'm too devoted to hearing to what my friends are up to... and having something to promote myself when necessary, to bail completely. The "Targeted" ads of course suck but you know you've given too much away when the perfect pitch hits you. I got my bike-phone holder on a fb ad. They saw me coming.

Yeah, I've had a 'like'/'dislike' thing with fb for a good decade. It's evil, rotten to the core, but kinda necessary for me to keep up with some stuff.

Part of the reason I haven't been as present around here is that my wife broke her foot (second time in 11 months!) and I'm kinda sorta at the end of my rope as far as time management. But, like, a day or two after it happened, FB was trying to sell me a knee scooter. Great googily moogily.

Have never actually started a Facebook account. So far, I seem to be getting along pretty well in life without it. Edgy, sorry to hear about your wife's broken foot. I wish her a full and speedy recovery.

Hrmmmm...Rorschach’s Journal, October 3, 2018. A “Vic Sage” has started to appear in my “Suggested Friends” rotation. Sadly the mutual friends and posts do not match what I know of the CPF user who uses the handle of my inspiration’s original face.

I only keep facebook for rememberances of my wife I may print all of that stuff and then bag the site These days. facebook has little redeeming social value, and the "fun" part has been gone for awhile

Knowing I was soon to get the boot, I was able to export all of my videos, photos, posts and friend lists from FB before they shut down my account, which eased the sting of losing that social web that I was enmeshed in. I actually just created a new account using an alias, but haven't sent any friend requests from it, as I'm using it mostly to share our (me, Ceets, and ABNS be the "our") beer blog posts with various FB pages hosted by beers and bars that we're enjoying/visiting.

Something tells me that this is about Michael Conforto's projected recovery from his shoulder surgery. I couldn't find the thread that I suspect, however, I guess I'm not one of the those that she cares about, because she unfriended me a while back!
