The bad news for the Mets did not end when the season did.

Franklyn Kilome, their fifth-best prospect and second-best pitching prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, had Tommy John surgery Wednesday, the team announced.

Kilome, a 23-year-old the Mets acquired in the Asdrubal Cabrera trade, figures to miss all of 2019 and likely some of the 2020 season, as well.

Practically a rite of passage for young power pitchers around these parts. I mean, one wouldn't want to feel left out.

It’s a crummy break, to be sure. The one consolation is that TJS means he has 16 months to recover before Spring 2020. So he probably doesn’t lose more than the one full season. But, nonetheless, shit.

Has it even been 90 days? This guys still under warranty. Pretty sure we get our Asdrubal back.

When I read the thread title, I thought, "They can always use another lefty starter, but Tommy must be a little old by now".
