Growing sick of the criticism of the lack of weight their latter-day nominations and inductees carry, the directors of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum decide it's time to go off the reservation. Theorizing that rock 'n' roll wasn't just a music genre, but a cultural force from the mid-20th Century onward, they decided to put together a ballot that looked exclusively beyond the singers, musicians, composers, and producers that we most readily associate with rock 'n' roll. The Supplemental Ballot is made up of cultural figures that perhaps existed concurrently with rock 'n' roll, fed and supported the genre and its broader culture, documented it, collaborated with it, and were influential upon it.

High as a cloud, the directors started spitballing names. Realizing that the list quickly grew unwieldy, they capped the list at 100 (!) submissions, and even then, they knew there were some glaring omissions.

Having second thoughts about the whole enterprise, they sent the list to you for paring. Pick five to ten names to put on the final ballot.

Re: R&RHoF Fake Supplemental Ballot

Brilliant and insane. Pondering this.

Re: R&RHoF Fake Supplemental Ballot

If elected, Avedis Zildjian, born in the early 1600s, would be the oldest member of the Hall.

It might be more appropriate to nominate his descendent Armand, who brought the company to America, but the spitballers came up with who they came up with.

Great work. Hard to choose ten. Wanted to pick one from every category but that made it 14.

I don't think anybody's gonna tear the building down if they don't induct Sweet Sweet Connie.

I don't know, she had the whole show that's a natural fact.

You might get some Beatles fans with a wrecking ball if Yoko gets enough votes!

Beatles fans who hate Yoko cut no ice with me.

If they want to lobby against somebody, let them lobby against Albert Goldman.

Fair point. Immortalized in a U2 song:

"Don't believe in Goldman
His type [is] like a curse
Instant Karma's gonna get him
If I don't get him first"

A hunnert. But hopefully we can get it down to 20 or so with alacrity.

Re: R&RHoF Fake Supplemental Ballot

This is a really hard group to break down, especially not recognizing some of the names. (But if I don't recognize the name, you're out.)

This will take some time.
