All New Q/A Game

Does everyone remember how to play? I ask a question, someone answers and asks a new question. It's a good way to while away the offseason.

I'll go first

He's referring to our pig roast this weekend. I guess it's a good party when it generates media coverage! Apologies to the local Cranepoolians for the late invites. And yes, we made a gravy from pan drippings, and also served just pan drippings. Also I drank a lot of beer, some bourbon, and had a bad hangover yesterday.

One thing I realized is, I'm a bad party-inviter, and not as good of a friend-maker, as I ought to be. I did one "reach" invite for this thing, the guy came, and it was great that he did. I should do that more.

Do you also get nervous about reaching out to people?

By it's nature its nerve-racking. When you put reach out, you put yourself out there and one can't help but feel vulnerable.

A big part of my work is to generate business, so I've kinda learned to block it out. Put myself out there, and if anything doesn't pan out, just roll with it. There are going to be people who say no due to circumstance, and others that just don't like you. It's part of life. I don't think I'd want to be the type of person that everyone liked.

Plus with text and email it's so much easier than having to pick up the phone and actually talk to someone. I wonder what dating would be like now. I imagine it would be a lot easier than it used to be.

The Pirates. I rooted for them when my team left Brooklyn because there were rumors they might move to New York. The ardour intensified when they beat the MFYs in the 1960 World Series.
Then the Mets were born. But I still have a soft spot in my heart for those Buccos.

Futbol. I like that the game is simple enough for a novice to grasp immediately, but so difficult to understand completely that even experts find it difficult to quantify the relative value of two defensive midfielders, say. But I like the international nature of the thing-- stars come from anywhere and go anywhere (the money is), national teams develop styles of play that persist for several generations of players-- most of all, I think.
